Sunday Week 10 One Shot: Exploring the Unknown

Sunday Week 10 One Shot: Exploring the Unknown
Sunday 9th, midday to 5:30 pm

D&D 5e

You are tasked with exploring and mapping an unknown region. Your characters will find locations for future settlements, discover any notable features of the area, and give names to the landscape around them, while you have the opportunity to test your map making skills. Future expeditions will be following in your footsteps, so how will you leave your mark on this new land?

This game is open to both new and experienced players, with characters at level 7. Printed copies of pregenerated characters will be provided (see below), though players are welcome to make there own before the day (see further below).

Please only sign up if you know you can come, and if for some reason you are signed up but find you cannot come, please take yourself off the list so that someone else can attend. I ask that anyone who was in a recent one shot wait a few days before signing up, so that those who have not had a chance to play in a while have the opportunity this time round.

The forum thread Exploring the Unknown is available for people to ask questions and chat before the game. Alternatively, message me on this website if there is something you want to ask.

The game will start in H0.01 at a little after midday, and should run until a bit after 5 pm. We will be meeting in the Social Sciences cafe at midday.

The pregenerated characters are presented here:
Barbarian
Bard
Cleric
Druid
Fighter
Monk
Paladin
Ranger
Rogue
Sorcerer
Warlock
Wizard

The rules for creating your own character are as follows:
Any officially published material is allowed, with the exception of the Aarakocra and Yuan-Ti Pureblood races.
If you want to use Unearthed Arcana or homebrew material, please run it past me first. The exception to this is Unearthed Arcana: The Ranger, Revised, which you should feel free to use.
For generating ability scores, roll 4d6 and remove the lowest. Repeat this 5 times to obtain a set of 6 ability scores. Repeat this entire process, then choose either set of ability scores, or use the point buy system on page 13 of the Players Handbook.
For starting equipment, use the options presented for your class in the Players Handbook. At levels 4, and 8, characters may replace the armour they wear with that immediately below it in the Armor table on page 145 of the Players Handbook.
