Twilight: 2000 4th Edition

2033‎ . The world ended in nuclear Armageddon twenty years ago. Those who perished were lucky. The last living humans reside in the Moscow metro system, sealed underground, away from the hostile surface. The great war is lost, so the only consolation for the remains of the once dominant species is to fight their own small wars: for bullets, food, gasoline, stations, tunnels, out of sheer hatred and inability to understand the Other. Humanity burns its last precious resources on killing itself, while amidst the most hostile conditions imaginable. Monsters, mutants, creatures of the old world that run rampant in the new one, radiation ravaging the surface. Our species has always been afraid of the dark. Are you ready to step into it?
Metro 2033 is a post-apocalyptic universe from a book of the same name. The book inspired a great video game series. The world is grim and bleak. It is not a sci-fi work per se: it is best understood as a mix of horror and military fiction, as much as a statement on the human condition. People die. They do so quickly and violently, often senselessly. Resources run out, forcing you to make tough choices. Your will to live erodes. You become an empty husk, stripped of all hope. And yet, you persevere in the tunnels and on the stations built by your fathers, you fight on for what you believe in, and you live, and live, and live.
Twilight: 2000 4th edition is a modern incarnation of a system built for a Cold War gone-hot scenario. It is crunchy, but not too crunchy, with a tight focus on lethal combat and resource management. I lightly hacked it for our purposes, adding weapons and enemies from Metro. It is quite deadly, so prepare for a possible character death from a stray bullet, hidden landmine or a rusty nail.
I am looking for two players to join an existing group of other two players. Please message me in Discord (nickname: marklyach). The plan is to have a mix of session 0 and session 1 on Saturday, 9th of May at 12-4pm, and then run another one on 16th. Afterwards, we will take a break due to my exams until early June, and will continue through the summer (same time, same day every week). My games tend to be more focused on characters and story, and quite serious/somber in tone. We play mostly online (unless everybody can meet in-person). We will be using Foundry: it's free for players.
