Vampire: the Masquerade 5th edition

New Orleans. 2006. Six months after Hurricane Katrina hit the city. February 1st. Night. Three weeks before the start of Mardi Gras. Grave. Coffin. You dig your way up through the cemetery dirt. Why are you awake? Are you alive?
Vampire: the Masquerade is an urban fantasy gothic punk game of personal horror. The gothic part refers to the fact that the story is set in a dark mirror of our world, where vampires and other monsters roam the streets, preying on sinners and saints alike. The punk comes from the fact that there is still hope left, albeit its fickle; the system can be beaten, something better can be built. You may not be able to save the world, but you can preserve your own corner of it. Will you fight?
They say that there are two sorts of vampires: those who will smile while killing you and those who will cry. But you can be different. You haven’t forgotten what it means to be human. Tell me: are you a person or are you a beast?
The games I run usually have a grounded tone: people die (including player characters), things break; this is very much a horror game. The player characters are former mortals, so make them humane and make them feel real. Don’t start with monstrous characters: the fall is more interesting when it’s played out, not written into the backstory. For trigger warnings, expect blood, gore, murders, addiction, occult and a general feel of thriller/horror. Anything that could happen in a Supernatural episode and a bit more. There will be multiple safety tools employed: your comfort matters. Also, I highly recommend to/prefer for players to take the story with a more serious than humorous tone.
The sessions will be happening on Saturdays, midday to 4pm, starting with 12th of October. We will have a session 0 sometime from Monday 5th to Friday 7th, at a time that we will agree on. Message me on discord, username marklyach when signing up.
