TERM 3 WEEK 39 NEWSLETTER

Hi!

Zzzzz... I’m sorry, please excuse me I was asleep. Turns out when you deprive yourself from that luxury for 3 days you end up crashing pretty hard. But it was worth it to experience as much of our hugely successful extravaganza as possible. Many games were played, much fun was had, and a while load of junk food was eaten. Now to detox yourself from everything that you’ve put yourself through, please enjoy my final ever newsletter. And a thank you to Jon for letting me steal this one from him, and also to taking up the task to follow on from my mess.

SPECIAL EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Nothing special this week, I think we’re all announced out for this term now. We’re recharging our batteries so that we may give you an even more special year next time.

WEEKLY EVENT SUMMARY:
Schedule can be found at our brand-spanking, shiny, new website http://www.warwicktabletop.co.uk/. If you haven’t checked it out yet, stop reading now, and go and give it a gander. It got a load of bells and whistles that Facebook can’t provide, so there’ll be even more content there than on our Facebook page.
WARGAMING:
Monday 17:00-22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
Wargaming on Monday as usual. Quick reminder for those who haven’t been in a while (shame on you!), we have a new X-Wing set for you to try out. It saw plenty of play at the extravaganza, with Wargamers and non-Wargamers alike dipping their toes in some hot tie fighter on X-Wing action. I even tried it myself, 8/8 I r8 it gr8, would wing again.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING:
Tuesday 18:00-22:00, WA0.15 Westwood
We are done with Amonkhet for this term! I know, I’m as sad as you are; I’ll miss having Bolas horns on every card in my pool. “But wait a minute Ross, isn’t there a draft this Tuesday?” Why yes my forgetful drafter, there is indeed. Our end of term Modern Masters draft. Unfortunately spaces are booked so if you’re not mentioned in the post that I will shortly be making on the magic page I’m afraid to day there won’t be room. Do keep an eye on the post though as I’ll be handing out any spaces that become available from dropouts on a first come first serve basis.

BOARD GAMES:
Wednesday 14:00-22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
Now for most people 3 solid days of nothing but boardgames would probably torment them to the point where the mere sight of cardboard would send them into a fit of PTSD. But we here at the society aren’t like most normal people, we’re just a bunch of people who love board games a bit too much (or maybe just a bunch of sadists). And as such I’m sure we’ll all still be turning up for board games on Wednesday as per usual, ready and willing to torment ourselves a little more.

CASUAL CARD GAMES:
Thursday 16:00-22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
I’ve missed a whole bunch of casual card games this term :’(, but I had some wonderful games of EDH over the weekend a have it on good faith that a few new people are planning on turning up this Thursday after having tried it at the extravaganza. Rest assured that I will finally be there this week; I fancy getting a game in before everyone goes back home over summer.

TABLETOP RPGs:
Saturday 13:00, Humanities Café
I hope everyone who got a chance to play in the one shots we ran over the weekend had fun. Our RPG elves are busy crafting more one shots for you to play for next year now that all of the campaigns are wrapped up. I’m sure you’ll be looking forward to trying them out next year!

LARP:
Nothing this week
We’ve had the end of Naomi, and from the ashes of her campaigns rises James’, who had a chance to give a sneak peak during the end of term LARP. Who knows what he has planned for us, we’ll just have to guess for now. Considering what happen yesterday though it sounds exciting, and if you want to clue yourself up on that you can find a summery in the LARP forums on the new website!

I hope you enjoyed the newsletter; it is with a heavy heart that I must bid it farewell. Till next year, goodbye!

Thanks for reading,
