TERM 2 WEEK 18 NEWSLETTER

Hello,
After 2 weeks of still believing we are in term 1 the newsletter header has finally been fixed (must just be me not accepting that I have to submit my thesis this year). As we all inch closer towards deadlines it’s good to know that we will be running all our great events to help keep your mind off them.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
Week 8
TICK TOCK time is running out for any potential future exec (or anyone who wants to vote for that matter) to become a member of the society if not one already. This really is that important (that’s why it’s being mentioned every week) as its SU policy so there is no way around it.

TABLETOP WEEKEND
10th February at 10:00 to 11th February at 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
It’s time for another tabletop weekend (the first of two this term). On the weekend of week 5 we will be running our famous 36 hour long marathon weekend of gaming, whether that be boardgames, card games, or wargames. As always this will be completely drop-in so pop along for as little or as long as you like.

WARGAMING
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
With the release of the Codex: Adeptus Custodes pretty much all the major factions now have a codex to use for Warhammer 40K, making Mondays the prefect time to come along and get a game with all the exciting new rules. If you happen to be playing one of the minor factions that’s yet to get a codex then why not get a game in with one of our many other systems such as Dropzone, Warmahordes, or X-wing.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
It’s our second Rivals of Ixalan draft on Tuesday, so whether you have the draft format sussed through careful deduction or you just happen to open a bunch of mythic uncommons (looking at you Ravenous Chupacabra) Tuesday is the day to put your skill to the test. As always 19:00 start with an £8 entry fee (which can be reduced by £2 per pack supplied yourself).

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, Physics Common room, 5th floor Physics Building
As stated above Boardgames will not be in its scheduled room this week, Instead it will take place in the physics common room located on floor 5 of the physics building (accessible from the science concourse). With nearly half of the room being taken up wargames and card games last Wednesday we might need inforce a more aggressive policy to make sure our boardgames collection gets the love it deserves (just kidding, we love to see new games no matter what they are). So, if you are a boardgames die hard then make sure to turn up on this week to represent your favourites part of the society, even if it’s just to give me a geography lesson.

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, B2.04/5 Science Concourse
With a bunch of new Netrunner new players appearing, it’s time for the old guard to get them kitted out with the skills needed to survive in this intense game. And what better place to do this than Casual Card games, you can even get advice from the UK national champion.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
On Saturday we seen the start of a new Starfinder campaign (Pathfinder in space), if this seems like your sort of thing then you are in luck as there is still space left and if you are quick can jump in from the start only having missed character creation (Which Martin the DM can catch you up on this Wednesday). If you are looking for something a little more different then be sure to check out the events page regularly to avoid missing out on anything exciting.

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING
Sunday 12:00 to 18:00, H1.02 Humanities Building
Sunday’s weeks adventure saw our group seek out a mage of fire in order to identify a mysterious totem. On there journey they encountered a group of frustrated engineers as well as a stranger figure going by the name Toby. After meeting the mage of fire and helping with some nasty spider business the group found that their totem was in fact an Artefact of Hellen although it appeared to be quite corrupted. This all came to a pleasant conclusion when they defeated the corruption and got to enjoy a nice dual between the fire mage and Toby.
