6PM-8PM 09/05/18 in B2.02
The time has come for the new society constitution draft to be made public! However, it needs to get voted through an Emergency General Meeting to be made official. There is a deadline of Week 8 for the document to be sent to the SU.
It's important that we reach quorum, but we know everyone is beset upon with exams, so we are holding this EGM during the Week 3 board games session.
Posted below will be a copy of the constitution - please comment with any amendments you feel need to be made so that they can be made before the EGM.
We hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Hello everyone!
For my sins, I am once again being the Returning Officer for this EGM. Writing this constitution will be my last real act as Society Secretary, and so I've put all my experience and knowledge into it. The result is a document that will hopefully help ensure no section of the society is favoured over another, and that our society is a good environment for everyone!
We need your help to pass it, and thus continue as a society though! So please read the draft version below, comment or post any amendments you might have, and then turn up on the day to vote on it!
If you have any questions do let me know :)

Hello everyone!
Just to let you know that the constitution has gone through some small changes recently. the most recent version can be found in the link below.
We need your amendments! To make the event go as smoothly as possible it would be great if you could post any potential amendments ahead of time. These should be in the usual “The Society Notes/The Society Believes/The Society Resolves” format and reference (a) specific clause(s).
I hope to see you there! Remember, if we can't do this, we can't be society...

Having got back into my Union Hack headspace, I have written three motions which I think would benefit the Constitution greatly. As I can't get to grips with the formatting on this page, I've done them on a word document - it's late and I'm tired, so shout if there's any glaring errors and I'll go fix them:

Bear in mind that I don;t have suffrage, so if you think one or more of these motions is sensible, you will need to propose it.
A few items which I don;t have motions for, but that I think need to be discussed on the day:
4.2 states, "No Executive Committee member should, beyond the normal scope of their roles, favour any of the societies’ activities over another. This also applies to the members of such activities" This could easily be interpreted as saying that every exec member needs to attend every activity, which is clearly not the intent. Rewording is probably needed, though neither Dan nor I have been able to come up with something appropriate.
5.3.4.d - "a reasonable amount of time" is going to vary by be different people's standards. Do we want to formalise when the guillotine should come down?
7.2.1.b states, "No illegal content or extreme content." The Constitution really needs to define what it means by "extreme".
"We do not stop playing because we get older, we get older because we stop playing."

TODAY'S THE DAY
It's time for our EGM! We need your help at 6PM today. Not only does the constitution dictate the way we run the society, but we need it to continue hosting our events! We've had a few motions posted, but if you have any more please put them online before the event starts.
Other than that, please come along so we can make the event as quick and easy as possible. Without this, the society will suffer, so it's kind of important!
