This week I’m really busy so I found some random people on the street (took me a while to find them, hence why this newsletter is late) to write the newsletter instead who definitely aren’t just puppet characters. So, introducing Finn and Bar! runs off to panic about revision

Finn: Hi, I’m Finn!
Bar: And I’m Bar!
Finn and Bar: And together, we make… Barfinn!
Bar: ...I’m not sure that’s correct, are you holding the notes upside-down?
Finn: ...Let’s start with this week’s special events.

THE WARWICK FRINGE
Friday 22nd June 10:00 to 16:00, MR2 SU HQ
Bar: I thought this was just for performances?
Finn: Oh you sweet summer child, it’s got events too, so we’re joining in with games in the SU HQ! Come on down.
Bar: Cool, that’s like a warm up to the extrav-
Finn: Shhh we’ve not got there yet.

END OF TERM QUIZ
Friday 22nd June 18:00 to 20:00, MR2 SU HQ
Finn: Here’s a good reason to come play board games in the SU - the quiz is straight afterwards!
Bar: Nice, I heard that maybe Dan will rap, and that it’s definitely not the plan to mention it a bunch in enough newsletters that he basically has to.
Finn: Yeah, that’s not the plan at all, but Dan might rap which would be cool.
Bar: Did we mention that Dan might rap?

THE EXTRAVAGANZA
Saturday 23rd June 10:00 to Monday 25th June 22:00, H5.45 (Humanities) AND B2.02 (Science Concourse)
Finn: Oh my goodness it’s back and longer than in the last two terms! Play all you can manage in three days of gaming!
Bar: Board games! Wargames!
Finn: LARP! Card games!
Bar: RPGs! They’re all there!
Finn and Bar: It’s so exciting!
Bar: Hype.
Finn: In the most complicated room bookings situation, we’re in two rooms - one for the whole of Saturday (H5.54) and one for Saturday 6pm onwards (B2.02). You might have noticed that we’re in two rooms at once on Saturday evening!
Bar: Wow, quantum.

WARGAMES
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, OC1.04 Oculus Building
Finn: Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise X-wing Player?
Bar: NO STOP
Finn: I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the attack dice to all show critical hits... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could always evade just enough to survive. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural, like Miranda’s K-wing pilot ability. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was going to time, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice lucksacked three hits against a ship preventing rerolls on the final turn. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.
Bar: Was there a point to that modified copypasta, Finn?
Finn: Uhh… come play X-wing? Star Wars Legion might be out at some point? Warhammer exists?

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
Finn: Magic: The Gathering, that’s the one where you put stuff in defense mode, right?
Bar: No, that’s Yu-Gi-Oh: The Luckening. I thought it was the one where you install ice protecting your servers?
Finn: No, that’s Netrunner: The Cyberpunking. Isn’t it the one where you stack cards and balance a superhero on them?
Bar: No, that’s Rhino Hero: The Stackening. Isn’t it the one where you have to balance the Force?
Finn: No that’s the Star Wars Card Game you silly. I can’t remember which one Magic is, oh well, the people who care about the draft will know.
Bar: reading from notes It’s a Dominaria draft, last registration at 18:30. Usual price of £8, discounted by £2 per pack you provide yourself.

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
Finn: Board games! Last week we had new games in the form of Magic Maze and Junkart!
Bar: Exciting!
Finn: I heard Junkart was particularly good, with some excellent art being built and talk about balls dropping (off of towers). Perhaps even a contender for best dexterity game against Rhin-
Bar: NO RHINO HERO WILL ALWAYS BE BEST
Finn: ...anyway come along this week for more of that and other games that you love! And BSG I guess if that’s your thing.

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
Finn: I'm informed by a mysterious source that Toby had the best deck and it was amazing, don't ask anybody else.
Bar: How mysterious.
Finn: Yes. I’ve got literally no clue who that could be. They seemed to really like Toby though, guess he’s got a fan.
Bar: …is this the level of “news” we’ve reached?
Finn: As per usual, come on down for your weekly bout of Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic or Netrunner.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
Finn: Apparently this newsletter has a light Star Wars theme, because this week Callum is running Star Wars: Edge of the Empire.
Bar: There’s even a slot left if you wanna join (https://www.warwicktabletop.co.uk/events/32/).
Finn: Nice! That Callum is pretty mad though, running a one-shot every week except when exams get in the way as they are again for week 7.
Bar: That’s fair, he’s already put a lot of work in to his one-shots, he deserves a break (exams aren’t much of a break though).
Finn: Oh, before we forget: usual disclaimer applies: talk to your GM to find out when/where your sessions are.

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING

Finn: Time to summarise the weekly plot that the LARP reps put up on the website…
Bar: Shh, don’t ruin Finnbar’s plans! That’s messing with dark forces! He could get rid of us at any moment if we disobey!
Finn: Nah, it’ll be fine, one sec, lemme find the summary.
Bar: what’s that looming angry shadow
Finn: Ah, here we go: this week they went to steal a mind totem from some councillor’s office.
Bar: I’d always wondered what local councillors actually did.
Finn: Hoard mind totems, apparently.
Bar: Huh, bit weird that.
Finn: Anyway, turns out one of them have got locked in. Inconvenient that.
Bar: Will they get out?
Finn: Find out next week!
