Adventure A - Mandatory Banditry

This adventure began in Aestas, the biggest city in the northern part of the continent and the soon-to-be capital seat of the newly fledging Empire of Aestas. The party are called together by an officer of the Wardens, the protective military force of the city. A supply wagon delivering crucial supplies to one of the newly established colonies had gone missing and it is up to the adventurers to find out what happened and deliver the goods safely back to the city.

The party set out along the trail that the wagon and its' Warden escort took, finding one of said Wardens lying seemingly dead against a tree and surrounded by wolves. Fortunately they successfully chased away the animals and found the Warden just barely alive, able to use magic to get him back to health. Reassured that they are on the right tracks, the party travelled further until they encounter two bickering groups of bandits. The two ringleaders were arguing over who should take over leadership of the bandit camp, one of them revealing that the supply wagon was actually a successful heist performed by another gang of thieves.

After letting the bandits fight amongst each other and moving on, the party encounter a life mage studying some scattered corpses. Some of them looked like bandits but others wore azure sashes identifying them as Wardens. The reason behind this massacre was revealed soon after as the party spied in on a conversation between three of the supply wagon thieves and found out that they set up an ambush for the Wardens. They were aided by one of the escort turning traitor for a cut of the profit, taking the goods back to their camp.

Tracking down the bandit encampment, the party walked in on the supply thieves in the middle of joyous celebration. Despite their varying states of inebriation the bandits still put up a challenging fight, with the party's Sentinel tragically losing his life in the struggle. In the end the adventurers won and after paying respects to their dead they found the missing supples. Dragging the cart back to Aestas, they were thanked by the Warden and reassured that the supplies will be resent to the village with a stronger escort this time. Thanks to them, the growing colony would have their food.

Adventure B - Trial By Fire

The heroes in this adventure answer a call from an Arbiter, an independent law enforcing organization operating in both the North and the South. They have received word of a sinister cult preparing some big plan, but they do not know what it is. The party's role is to find out exactly what the cultists are planning and put an end to their nefarious activities. They are first directed to a village believed to be embroiled in the cult's machinations.

Upon arrival the party find an anxious villager trying to gather large amounts of food. Upon closer investigation they find out that he is being blackmailed into supplying the cultists under the threat of them killing his kidnapped daughter. With the next meeting just around the corner, the adventurers seize the opportunity and attend in the man's stead. They confront what turns out to be followers of Quexxlia, the god of fire and destruction, and find out that there is a large cultist bastion where a high-ranking leader of the cult resides. Figuring the leader would know more about the cult's plan, the party make for the bastion.

Upon arrival the adventurers try to get the cult leader to swallow some cactus juice, a powerful psychedelic, and then kidnap her to gain the required information. Unfortunately they are charged by the other cultists, the searing pain imbued into their weapons giving the latter the edge to slay the entire party. All was not lost, however! As it turned out, all of the party members conveniently happened to be identical twins and the siblings stepped in to attack the severely culled and weakened cultists. Emerging victorious, they chase the cult leader to a small village and eventually find out that the Quexxlians plan to summon a great fire demon to destroy the Southlands. They set up spirit trapping devices to get spiritual energy for the summoning happening incredibly soon.

With no time to waste, the adventurers find and destroy both spirit trapping totems. The released spirits reveal that the cult has retreated into their home in the underground tunnel network known as the Deeps. Charging into the depths, the party finally find the Quexxlian cult's overlord. Infuriated by the loss of his spirits, the overlord nevertheless attempts to summon a demon whilst his cultists swarm the adventurers. Courageously fighting back, the heroes manage to break through the tide and interrupt the ritual several times. Finally the overlord is slain, with the summoned demon so pathetically weak it is felled in one sword strike. With the nefarious plan stopped and the cultists put to justice, the party reported back to the Arbiter and collected a generous reward on the behalf of their tragically slain siblings.
