Hi!

Jon's currently off galavanting around Europe, so while he's having fun in the sun you lucky lot get me, Ross your old comms officer, to write your newsletter. And what a newsletter it will be! I bring news for some of the events that we will be running this term: boardgame weekends; quizzes; RPG one shots; drafts; wargaming tournaments! Plenty to keep all of you satiated this year.

SPECIAL EVENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Unstable Draft, B2.02, Friday 12th Jan, 6pm:
I can confirm that the Unstable draft will be running this Friday! Entry will be £6, and there will be no redrafting of any rares or any other cards. We will provide all lands that you need, and will also be selling sleeves if you wish to buy any. We will be meeting at 6pm, but will aim to start at a slightly later time of 7:15, as there are a number of people who would like to draft but will be caught up in lectures or work till late.

RPG One Shots, Social Science Cafe, Saturday 13th Jan, 12pm:
Back by popular demand from term 1 is our one shot day! We’ll have DMs aplenty ready to whisk you away for the day into far away lands; pit you up against Dragons, Chtulian monsters, Space Marines; and (most importantly) roll many dice. You will also get a chance to ask about joining a campaign for this term if you wish. Please bring dice if you have any, and friends (non-members too) to come and enjoy the fun with you!

Annual General Meeting (AGM):
This term will bring us our AGM, where we will be electing our exec members for next year, and voting on any issues or changes people would like to make about the society. A large proportion of our exec will be leaving University this year, so we’ll be in need of people to nominate themselves to be exec. If you or someone you know would be interested in taking on the role of an exec, please nominate yourself. Ask the current rep for the role you would be interested in and they can help tell you what you need to do for the role, and how to apply.

WEEKLY EVENT SUMMARY:

And here’s a link to the Warwick interactive campus map (http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/about/visiting/maps/interactive/), so all of you can find out where those rooms actually are.

WARGAMING:
Monday 17:00-22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
With the new year comes new wargaming opportunities, letting you try out whatever goodies Santa might have brought you to help rain down terror on your foes. We’ll be kicking off at the normal time in B2.01 this term, which will (thankfully) be our room for the whole of this term!

MAGIC: THE GATHERING:
Tuesday 18:00-22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
We’ll be drafting Ixalan this week, but don’t forget we have the unstable draft on Friday! I will also be bringing sleeves to sell with me, as we have finally had a much needed restock.

BOARD GAMES:
Wednesday 14:00-22:00, B2.02 Oculus:
New year, same old boardgames, normal time normal place. Come and get some much needed gaming in after the dry spell you had back home (everyone loves a game of family monopoly right?). We know you love being back at uni, if only just for this.

CASUAL CARD GAMES:
Thursday 17:00-22:00 S2.81 Social Science
With unstable having been out a while I expect at least one uncommander deck to be floating about! If you haven’t picked up any of the kooky cards yet to add to your deck, then you still have time before Thursday to order cards online, or if you can hold off till Friday you can draft, hoping to pick up some spicy bits to add into your decks!

TABLETOP RPGs:
Saturday 13:00, Humanities Café
Don’t forget about the One Shot Day! This is where you’ll be finding out about all the new campaigns that will be running this term. Or, if you are particularly loyal, you may even be sticking with your DMs for this term! Either way, see you Saturday!

LARP:
Sunday 12:00-17:00, Piazza:
Hopefully it won’t be too cold for LARP this Sunday. To those of you who are brave enough to bear the brutal British weather, look forward to finding out what James has planned for this term. I’m expecting great things!

Stay frosty!
