Hello,
Things have finally calmed down after the tabletop weekend and terrain making day, but don’t let this relaxed pace get you down as we still have all our weekly events with a jam packed end of term on the horizon. By the time the 2nd tabletop weekend, 40k apocalypse, and end of term quiz are done you probably will have been glad of the rest.

WARGAMING
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, OC1.04 Oculus
It’s been great to see all the hard work on terrain making day paying off as the battlefields now look great, and are providing a real incentive to get your models painted up as well. As always there will be games of 40k, X-wing, Warmahordes, and Dropzone, so check out our wargames Facebook group to organise a game.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, R0.14 Ramphal Building
Hopefully nobody took my suggestion last week of drafting a spicey deck too seriously, as it’s always important to remember to draft a sensible consistent deck to get your hands on those prize packs. So allow me to share a pro tip to help you make your picks, always pick the card with the most hats in the art. That’s right, do a hat draft and watch your opponent concede in jealousy at all the sweet hats you have. The draft will start at the usual time of 19:00 with the usual by in of £8 minus £2 of every booster you supply yourself.

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, OC1.08 Oculus
It’s good to know that even after a 36 hour straight boardgames event, Wednesday night boardgames are just as popular as ever (although did anyone really believe they wouldn’t be). It also marked the 6th week in a row that HEX HEX has been played proving once and for all that’s it’s the best game we own (well at least better than BSG anyway). The special pink card codenames expansion was also eventually played (although someone might need to give Roff a history lesson as to when the Charge of the light brigade actually happened, hint - it’s not the crusades).

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, WA0.15 Avon Building Westwood
We were back to our normal time this week with exciting card games for the full 6 hours (hopefully no more pesky academics steal our rooms again in the future). In addition to our usual games of Android Netrunner, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Commander, proxied legacy has also gain some traction on Thursdays. So if you have ever been curious in this deep and powerful format but didn’t a spare couple of thousand pounds lying around then why not get a deck proxied up and head on down.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
By now everyone involved in a campaign will be deep in to their adventure and probably don’t need me to remind them to turn up (the excitement of what is going to happen next should be enough of an incentive for that). If you are still looking on getting in to a campaign then it’s not too late either as there is still space in the Vampire Masquerades game, all you need to do is reply to the forum post or event.

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING
Sunday 12:00 to 18:00, OC0.01 Oculus
As the nights get darker remember and spare a thought for our brave LARPers who now have to fend off all sorts of horrible fiends in a barely lit woods. And if that sounds enticing rather than terrifying then come along to the oculus at 12:00 on Sunday and we will get you started, no equipment of experience required.

WEEKLY NEWS
On Saturday the LARP section hosted their termly in character social. Not only did this give our LARPers a chance to develop their characters without having to worry about combat, it also allowed them to get in to some pretty interesting situations which may have ended up in someone being trapped inside a magical stone.
In other news, the society has recently made some exciting purchases for the RPG and boardgames sections including A Feast for Odin, SpaceTeam, Trivial Pursuit, and Dominion for boardgames as well as Pathfinder- The Adventure Card Game, and the 5th Edition D&D player’s handbook for RPGs.
