TERM 1 WEEK 10 NEWSLETTER

Hello,
You may be thinking that it’s all over now, but that couldn’t be further from the truth as we have a whole other week of events lined up ready for you to enjoy before the end of term.

WARGAMING
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, OC1.04 Oculus
We somehow managed to survive the apocalypse, and what better way to celebrate than to jump straight back into the battlefield, whether it be in the grim darkness of the far future, the Iron Kingdoms of western Immoren, or a galaxy far, far away. As always we have plenty of society armies so if you are interested all you have to do is turn up.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, R0.14 Ramphal Building
It’s the last draft of term, and our amazing CCG’s rep Roff has managed to get his hands on a box of Iconic Masters. Due to limited the number of pack this draft will be limited to 8 players so make sure and comment on the Facebook post or message the society to reserve your space. Due to the Iconic Masters draft there will be no Ixalan draft this week. As always its 19:00 start for the drafts with an entry of £25 for Iconic Masters.

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
It was great to see the collaboration with Mind Aware go so well, with the majority of them staying on after 6 just to enjoy more boardgames while we all enjoyed there free mince pies and biscuits. With many of you leaving soon, this week it might be your last chance to play some real boardgames before you are forced to play monopoly with your family, so make sure and pop in on Wednesday. And speaking of real baordgames, we have recently added Deception: Murder in Hong Kong and Diplomacy to our collection, so know you have even more reason to come along.

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, WA0.15 Avon Building Westwood
I got a chance to play some proxied Legacy at the Tabletop Weekend and boy was it exciting (it was also really difficult with lots of strange interactions). So if this sounds like your sort of thing then you have one more Thursday night CCGs to give it a go. And if Magic isn’t your thing then we will have all our usual games of Netrunner and Yu-Gi-Oh to keep you occupied.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
After the excitement over the weekend we can finally get back to normal this Saturday for RPGs. So, whether your campaign is rounding up with the end of term or you are only scratching the surface make sure to keep in touch with your DM for all the details. If you are interested in running a campaign in the New Year then don’t hesitate to post the event as the sooner you do, then the sooner it can be advertised here in the newsletter.

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING
Finished for Term 1
Well the sad news is that LARP is over until the start of term 2, but what a way to end. The party was tasked with aiding a Warden Taskforce attempting to “neutralise” the spirt of winter. After a long journey the party managed to keep the peace and find some even ground between the spirit of winter and the Wardens, however who knows what repercussions this will have down then line. So, if you want to find out then you will just have to wait until January.

WEEKLY NEWS

Our termly quiz took place on Friday, with teams testing their knowledge on everything from the Star Wars prequels and countdown conundrums to pictures that spell out things that sound like things and iron. After 6 rounds, Monstrous Regiment proved there superiority by half a point taking home the fabulous prizes, after which we all headed for a fun filled social at the pub.

Saturday saw our termly 40k apocalypse game take place. This battlefield of the far future saw some of the imperium’s finest, Grey Knights led by Roboute Guilliman, take on the unusual alliance of Imperial Guard, Tau, and Eldar (who were also somehow led by Roboute Guilliman). In the end that brave alliance led by the true Guilliman(?) claimed victory through sheer force of numbers.

As I’m sure everyone knows, the end of term tabletop weekend took place for Saturday to Sunday. This was an amazing event, playing host to several other events, and a great way to end the year. Between the quiz, end of term LARP, and 40k Apocalypse game you may have thought that we would struggle to find the time to play our usual ridiculous amount of boardgames. But as you know, we will always find a way to make time for boardgames.
