🏋️ Tabletop Radio Does Ringfit!
The spectre of our hubris yet remains, as we finish yet another Tabletop Radio stretch goal. Namely, a bunch of us in a room streaming our pitiful attempts to keep up with Ares playing Ringfit. On the 20th Nov, 12-1, on our Twitch Channel, so you can watch us all make a fool of ourselves. Remember! This is technically your fault for raising so much money from Tabletop Radio last year!
🏳️🌈 Equalitea Board Games
In Week 8 (that’s next week), the University has their Pride week - and we’re hosting a charity fundraiser! Partnering with Warwick Pride, the LGBTQUIA+ Association, we are holding an “Equalitea and Board Gaymes” session - there will be tea, coffee, and home baked cakes for a small donation (we recommend £1.50), and a separate room (B2.03) for you to take these, eat, and play board games with your friends. All money raised will be going to Stonewall, an LGBT-focused charity that is committed to empowering LGBT individuals, transforming the culture of institutions towards inclusivity and acceptance, changing hearts and minds to value and respect LGBT individuals, and changing and protecting laws to contribute to LGBT equality.
We’re looking for anyone interested in baking cakes or sweet treats to sell at the event - please contact an exec member if you’re interested.
❔ Quiz and Tabletop Weekend
Week 9 will be here soon. When it arrives, to steal Lewis's favourite phrase when he GMs, "several things happen at once." First, on the Friday of Week 9 from 6 to 9pm, in OC0.02, we have the Quiz, where round themes include: Indiceision, Rocks, 🐸, Rules, and... Horses?!? (ok that's my bonus round). Entry is £1.50, and we have Prizes!
Secondly, we have Tabletop Weekend in B2.02 and B2.04/05, from 10am Saturday to 10pm Sunday. Just like Board Games weekend, if you have any big events you want to organise over it, do so on the website so you can get players. We already have one event organised, an X-Wing Tournament for potential wargamers. Details are on the event page, but a TL;DR:
- 9:30 to 16:00 Saturday or Sunday (date TBD)
- Send in your lists by the 1st of December.
- The soc has models/list to borrow if you need.
Zatu Code
The discount code from Zatu Games normally at the bottom of the newsletters has expired. However, Alex's machinations are already afoot to sort a new one.

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Wavelength was, as always, wild. This time, the clue verged a little towards the suggestive, with a scale of Limp to Firm, and the clue of "Sausage". "Obviously", this is dead centre, the perfect balance of rigidity and lack of floppability.
Once again, the chonker of a game Brass: Birmingham was played. In a case of nominative determinism (It's Brass: Birmingham, not Brass: Birmingham and also some other towns), commitment to making the North South Divide, or just plain coincidence, only the south of the board was developed.
Extra Bonus End Bit
Thinking quickly, you rummage through your pockets and find a crumpled sheet, torn from a notepad. On it are numbers and words you half remember, but as you read them your memories and loyalties alike coalesce. Memories of Mondays past, spent measuring ranges and moving figures across the tops of tables. Of before the cataclysm, back when wargames was still within the society's grasp. As the words resolve themselves into an old list for Star Wars Legion, you approach the wayward exec and challenge them to a game.
Jon turns to face you, and surprise and recognition alike cross both of your faces. However, he accepts and lends you some models with which to play. The minutes pass in seconds, feeding back little snippets of Tabletop under Anakin's rule from the outside as Jon shares secrets of how the wargamers survived, each buried in just enough rumour and ambiguity that it could be denied should the need arise. All too soon, the game and your spycraft together conclude, and an offer is made. The terms are simple enough - act as a double agent on behalf of the Wargames Resistance, a spy on the inside, feeding back information and material. In return, you will be granted passage through the many secret passages known to the wargamers, as well as being given your own personal set of X-Wing dice, complete with unusual power and faces unreadable to any not trained in the deep arts of wargamery.
Do you agree, and if so do you intend honesty or backstabbing? Or are you just in it for the dice, unconcerned with the machinations of the broader society?
