Ah, I see you made it past the giant AGMenemy crab to this week's newsletter. Don't worry, it's also here.
❗ Announcements ❗
🗳 Test Votes
You may have seen mentions of test votes in the AGM channel - please go vote: rate some berd gams, very definitely real "Pokemon" that exist we promise, and give your sconepinions. These slightly jokey votes are all so we can be 100% sure our system works ahead of the AGM! If anything breaks please let Finnbar (@finnbar#1659 on discord) know!
📣 AGM - RPGs Rep, LARP Rep, and Quartermaster
Just a reminder this week, as I will continue to do for the one remaining newsletter where I can, the AGM is on the 2nd of March, in B2.02, from 7-9pm. If you want to find out more about the AGM check out the forum thread. The deadline for constitution-changing motions is 12PM this Wednesday, so if you were planning to submit one, please do that before that. If you're running, or planning to run, this is also a reminder to put your manifestos up ahead of the AGM!
If you haven't verified your membership on the website yet, got membership before Thursday the 17th Feb, and want to vote, go and verify your membership and then tell Finnbar so they can add you to the test vote.
First off in this week's reps, it's the RPGs rep!
RPGs Rep Duties:
- Facilitates the running of RPGs
- Ensures that GMs and players are aware of the Events page on the website for organising games
- Promotes events and games that are being run, via Discord, the newsletter, and Facebook
- Books ad-hoc rooms when necessary for people to have RPG sessions in
- Keeps an eye on what’s being run and helps new players find games where possible
- Runs their own one-shots or campaigns to help people play RPGs
- Encourages diversity of RPGs, not just D&D
- Is responsible for the RPGs equipment and budget. This includes:
- Purchasing new equipment when needed (rulebooks, dice etc)
- Keeping an inventory of RPGs equipment that the society owns
- Keeping a record of items lent out
- Runs special RPGs-themed events, including:
- The Introductory RPG One-Shot events at the beginning of Term 1 and 2
- Special themed one-shot days, such as at Halloween, Christmas or Easter
- The Big RPG day

- Facilitates ideas and works towards improving any RPGs related activities the society does.
Oli's Testimony:
Hey all, I'm Oli and I've been RPGs rep for this year and assistant RPGs the year previously. It's been an absolute blast running and playing in games and though I'm super busy right now with finalist work I hope to run everything all at once (tm) after my deadlines are done in term 3.
My main responsibility as RPGs rep has been to offer a point of contact for room bookings, game tips, and anything related to RPGs at the society. I also manage and lend out the inventory which just had a big upgrade! The biggest tasks involved in the role include large events like Intro to RPGs, but these shouldn't be too daunting and the exec do chip in to help you. Unlike some of the other roles, RPGs tends to work in bursts, rather than on a consistent schedule. If you're very flexible, this role works especially well for you. However, I would encourage anyone with an interest in RPGs and good organisational skills to apply for the role.
If you have questions please ask me on discord (EndeDoge5#2032) and I will do my best to answer promptly. Being on exec has honestly been a major highlight of my academic career and I would very much encourage people to run for any of the positions on offer. Good luck, heroes! Hope to see as many of you as I can before graduation!
LARP Rep Duties:
- Runs the weekly LARP session on Sunday
- This includes welcoming and teaching new players how to LARP
- Is responsible for planning out the weekly adventures
- Handles player downtime between sessions
- Is responsible for updating and balancing the Society’s UNITY system
- Together with the Quartermaster, is responsible for the LARP equipment and budget. This includes:
- Purchasing new equipment when needed (clothes, weapons, armour etc)
- Keeping an inventory of LARP equipment that the society owns
- Moving equipment to and from storage
- Runs extra/alternative LARP events, including:
- Murder Mysteries
- The end-of-year Kenilworth Castle LARP
- A trip to Empire
- Runs the LARP Facebook group
- Facilitates ideas and works towards improving any LARP related activities the society does.
James's Testimony:
Hello, I’m James and I’ve been your LARP rep for the past 2 years, Being LARP rep involves working with the quartermaster to run the weekly Sunday LARP, when the universe doesn’t conspire to end it. There is a trip to Kenilworth in term 3 to be run as a grand finale to the year and other events such as murder mystery. Overall, I’ve had a really good time as LARP rep and would recommend it to anyone who likes both sight physical activity and playing RPGs.
If you think you have what it takes to hit people with stick in Tocil woods, you can message me on discord (blickster53#1279) I’m happy to answer any questions you have.
Quartermaster Duties
- Helps the LARP rep run the weekly LARP session
- Together with the LARP rep, is responsible for the LARP equipment and budget
- Helps the LARP rep run extra/alternative LARP events
- Helps run the LARP Facebook group
Nathan's Testimony:
If you are interested in LARP but want to take a more supportive role or have an interest in the equipment side of LARP. The Quartermaster Exec role is for you. You’ll be looking after the pointies you can’t poke with and the pointies you can poke with. Additionally, you support the Larp rep by running some LARP sessions as well where you get other people to do the poking in your stead. Don’t dismay, you even get the chance to run around and wack folks with said foam forged armaments. All you need is a spot of creativity, an interest in LARP and a durable skull. There is also plenty of support from the other exec when it comes to testing ideas relating to LARP. While you will mainly be supporting LARP, there are opportunities to help support other events within the society too.
📅 Exec Meeting
We have an Exec Meeting on Discord, from 5-6pm, this Friday the 25th, discussing the impending AGM, a general overview of recent collabs, and a reminder to quiz round writers to get their rounds done.

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Some Space Marines fought against
evil and horrifying tyranid infiltrators perfectly normal and upstanding human citizens, showing the tyranny of the God-Emperor. These valiant defenders of our freedom managed to snipe one of the God-Emperor's underlings so hard they exploded into the warp, proving they are heretical and untrustworthy psykers.
Also, because nobody else has posted anything in highlights, I get to talk about the Netrunner cube I've been working on for the past few months, which I finished on Saturday! It includes some very self indulgent card designs, proof that you don't need to play or know anything about a game to reference it, and niche references to obscure things only I will get unless you're really deep into Lancer lore.
Extra Bonus End Bit
ok update I got distracted doing netrunner and also uni work and am only a little bit using that as an excuse to put off RPG nonsense.
Wash your hands, stay safe, and come play some games with us 💛
