So, early in the term I was getting a bit worried that the newsletters were seeming a little lacking in content and I was assured by wise, experienced exec members that A) that was normal and B) that it would very much change towards the end of the term. And hot damn were they right - buckle up for another hefty newsletter!
Also my Megagame dream wasn't particularly exciting unfortunately but it makes for a good hook as a title, so I'll take it.

π³οΈβππ‘ Reminder to sign up to Tabletop Radio!!
Due to the absolutely stacked nature of this week's newsletter I'm just going to repeat teasers for all the segments that still require sign ups. Please check out last week's newsletter if you want a taste of pretty much all the events that will be happening but for now go ahead and get involved in any of the things below!
π‘π³οΈβπ THURSDAY, JUNE 30TH
Jackbox - There are 4 spaces left! If you're interested, sign up to the event, or shoot Scarlett (@ORCH1D
) a message!
Hello reader, I wanna play a game. Which game? Unclear at this point in time, but what I do know is that it'll be from one of the Jackbox party packs! For those of you who don't know, Jackbox games are party games which are hosted on a machine and then people can use their mobile devices to join in. They can range from getting prompts to write jokes to drawing pictures on your tiny phone screen and having people try to guess what the hell you were drawing in the first place.
Tabletop Gameshow - Sign up to be part of the Wargames team (2 spaces left), or Sign up to be part of the Non-Wargames team (2 spaces left)
This year we will have our first ever βTabletop Gameshowβ live! This will feature two teams competing in a variety of challenges, with one team representing the Wargames faction of the society, trying assert dominance to further the Wargames Coup and the other team playing to prevent that. Ed is running this segment and there will be two teams of three players - here are the sign ups for each.
Overlight Oneshot - Sign up to the Overlight RPG here, there is 1 space left!
Hello there! It me. Anakin. This year for Tabletop Radio I've decided it definitely won't be a bad idea to run a livestreamed RPG. So I picked the gayest looking book off our society's shelves and will get to work on making a game to remember! I'm looking for up to four players with an intent to inflict their queerness on others unapologetically for Overlight, a game of Kaleidoscopic Fantasy.
Mao - Sign up to Mao, there are 3 spaces left!
Hey Tabletop, Lewis here! Do you like Uno, but find the rules a little... restrictive? Annoyed that you can't bend the rules when it would be just a touch inconvenient for the other players? Well, Mao might just be for you! In this year's Tabletop Radio, I'm running a 6-person game of Mao, a game where the rules are invented by the players, while they're playing!
π‘π³οΈβπ FRIDAY, JULY 1ST
Chess 3000: The Next Generation Deluxe - Matthew is running this segment and is looking for 4 players - Sign up to Chess here, 3 spaces left!
Chess is, as we all know, a highly outdated game. And like all games, the best way to improve it is to add several more rules without thinking about it too hard. Throughout this year's tabletop radio stream, viewers will be able to donate in order to add new rules to the game, and then in this segment we will put those rules to the test.
MUSIC
There's no signups for this, but here's a little announcement about it: this year's music is going to feature multiple musicians (singers! a cellist! an actual drummer! whatever Finnbar ends up playing!) in a 1h30 segment at the end of Friday. We're even aiming to perform some of your requests together as a group - that's right, not just Finnbar fighting a kazoo like previous years. We will however need time to practice those group requests, so there will be a limited number of donation slots available before the stream for requests that you'd like multiple musicians on. You will still be able to donate for music during the stream, but it will likely just be a single musician and we can't guarantee that your request will be played during the stream (and will instead be during a bonus stream). Keep an eye on our Discord and future newsletters for when those donation slots go live!

π What happened last week? π
Lots of highlights to treat you to this week!
Mick Returns!
There was a lot of news from my beloved Mick this week in Wargames and whilst I'm going to have to summarise it here a little (mostly because I don't know how to format that many pictures in the newsletter), I encourage you to check out the whole thrilling saga over in #highlights!
Just back after her two weeks annual leave Mick witnesses a Mawloc erupting from underground and, brave soul that she is, she charged in at the giant beast...
Only to fail to wound it and to get eaten alive!
Morvenn Vahl, Supreme Commander of the Sister of Battle, who just defeated a Tyranid Swarmlord is surrounded yet again by not one but two large monsters, One of which she swears she can hear Mick shouting from inside...
All 3 of the combatants are on just a singular wound and it was a tense fight but she was able to take out both of the creatures, subsequently freeing Mick from the insides of the Mawloc.. a victory for the Sisters of Battle![3]
[3] it was, in fact, a win by the Tyranids based on points, however it was deemed a tie due to only 1/2 Termagants remaining out of the entire Tyranid army π
Trouble at Beacon Academy
Oli's summer of RPGs seems to be going well and Ben had this to report after one of the sessions for the RWBY playtest:
"Today at Beacon Academy, a team of 6 students set out to go and retrieve artefacts, guarded by Grimm (evil monsters that are attracted by negative energy).
Two players roll stealth and sneak ahead of the party, watching for hostiles. Meanwhile, the cyborg, woman toting a minigun, mysterious individual who is definitely not part-Grimm and our former acrobat-turned-hunter, blatantly disregard the attempts to be stealthy and storm up on the area.
One of our scouts, frustrated, lets out a scream of "do you not UNDERSTAND [expletive deleted] CONCEALMENT???" which had two effects.
- Sheepish (in-character) apologies from the party
- A horde of Grimm, attracted by the rage of the unfortunate scout team, charge the party.
ROLL INITIATIVE!"
New Rorschach test just dropped
This Spirit Island board was cleared on turn 7 and much debate ensued about what its shape most reminded people of. I think it looks like an upside down video game controller but croissants, devils, and crabs were also proposed. What do you think?
Unfathomable chaos
Apparently this unfathomable chaos deck was very kind to those playing? I, myself have never played this game so its name is apt on many levels and I don't have much more to say.
I am concerned about the amount of explosions happening
For the third time in a row, one of Ben's RPGs ended in a massive explosion. At this point, I as a GM would either lean into this as a Branding Choice(TM) or I would start to change the laws of flammability and combustion in the universes I play in to try and stop the entire world eventually getting blown up.
Extra Bonus End Bit
It's Pride month so I have something a little different for you this week. Alas, one of the player characters was slain in combat to one of the terrifying enemies proposed over the last two roll tables. Now, between sessions, they have to devise a new character but have come to a bit of a stumbling block when trying to figure out how to describe their gender. There are infinite out there so it can certainly be a bit challenging to narrow it down - but don't worry, I've got you covered with this week's d10 table of genders!
- The childlike wonder of yeeting into a pile of colourful autumn leaves, the collision of life and death bringing joy
- The unsatisfying feeling when a yawn stops midway
- A pile of unfinished projects
- Whatever your gender is in real life, squared
- txt slang
- Rippling seafoam
- The distant twinkle of what is fairly probably a star
- A very large, slightly wonky strawberry
- Leaping off a swing at its zenith and hurtling towards destiny
- The recalcitrant sheep you try to herd in your dozing state in order to get to sleep
Wash your hands, stay safe, and come play some games with us π
