๐ Merch Survey
Before we place any big orders for merchandise products, weโd like to get an indication from you as to what merchandise you want us to provide for you to buy. This is NOT a commitment to buy, though please do answer honestly as this survey will inform us on what to actually offer.
Please follow this link and fill in the survey!!
We'll try to open orders sometime around Christmas, with the aim to place the orders with relevant companies during the beginning of Term 2, and products should distribute during term 2.
If you need items shipped to you as you are not going to be on campus, this will be organised on an individual basis, and you will be able to choose the shipping option that suits you (basic, tracked, signed for etc). You will have to cover the extra shipping cost (shipping + packaging) by sending it to the exec member who sorts it out for you (e.g. via bank transfer or paypal).
If you are on campus, you will be able to collect merchandise from an exec member at a society event.
โ๏ธ Help Us Write the Megagame
As you will have seen in either last week's newsletter or the announcement in Discord, we are planning on running a completely new, freshly-designed Megagame in term 3.
Since designing an entire game for 6+hours and 40 players is a pretty big task, we have put the call out in the society for anyone who is interested and would like to get involved and help. This will require a level of commitment and contribution as it is a big task but if it sounds like something that interests you then PM Lewis on Discord (Lewis.P#7804
) and he will add you to the Megagame design server!
๐ฆ Big RPG Coming Soon
- ๐ Sunday 5th February (Week 4)
- ๐ TBC
- ๐บ LIB2
I am hyped as hell that this year we are running Wanderhome as our Big RPG in week 4 of term 2! Our Big RPG is a once yearly event in which a whole load of us get to play a game (this time of Wanderhome) in the same universe with opportunities to all impact the world together. It's an awesome chance to create even bigger and more collaborative stories.
To say a little about Wanderhome in case you are unfamiliar, it is one of my all-time favourite systems I've ever played. It can be played as GMless or GMed and, to me, the vibes could best be summed up as adventurous, whimsical, and heart-wrenching. You play as animal folk who journey around the world of Hรฆth, creating the towns and townsfolk that you visit and celebrating festivals, little victories, and each other as you face challenges and grow together.
Please take a mo to go and react to Ben's announce in #announcements if you're interested in playing so that we can have a rough initial gauge of interest and numbers and then keep an eye out for a form coming soon to get some more specific details about participation and GMs!
๐ช LARP Murder Mystery Solved!
(Thanks to Nathan for the following summary!)
Breaking news: folks did a murder but plural.
Last Saturday was the murder mystery aboard a mafia owned airship. Half of The Family's highest rank members were murdered along with the captain of the airship. Both the Captain and Diana (one of the leaders) lost their lives to a multiple detonating device. And Ruina lost their life to blunt force trauma..... via a brick, according to later analysis.
However, their murderers were caught and put to justice once they landed!
Thank you all for coming to our murder mystery if you attended and I hope you all enjoyed it. Please fill out the feedback available in the discord for the event if you haven't already.

๐ญ What happened last week? ๐ญ
Terraforming Mars all Merger (and all the chaos that came with that) this week ended in another tiebreaker, well done to Nathan!
- Alvis: Green
- Nathan: Yellow
- Lap: Blue
Shoutout to Reylynn's party for surviving this with no casualties:
- Veila: 8 health, deaf, blind, poisoned, no spell slots
- Gouda: half health, deaf, blind, poisoned
- Trelawney: half health, poisoned, low spell slots
- Stenvar: Unconscious
- Mercury: Unconscious
Spawn of Chaos: Full health, all Legendary abilities remaining Emissary: 3/4 health, abilities recharged
Check out #highlights for Jon's rundown of how the party survived!
This week, in LARP:
The party set out to return a rare beast, known as โan elephantโ to its rightful owners- despite one party member thinking that an elephant was a type of cheese.
After encounters with imps, spirits, crabs, an actual elephant and more! bloody! imps!, we learnt that the creature we had been hired to locate was in fact a scorpion, which we subsequently dispatched. Also, we may have had a tangle with local Reeves, but as long as no one looks too closely at that river, we should be fineโฆ
Context, Idvorโs Spirit Guidance trait allows them to gain knowledge from the surrounding spirits, but some spirits do literally ram the knowledge into their brain
Resulting in migraines.
Extra Bonus End Bit
A roll table of essential world building questions to improve any homebrew:
- One of the societies in your world uses a "gender calendar" - what does that mean?
- How long isn't a piece of string?
- What's in the sky where you might expect to see stars?
- Whatโs the title of the song at the number one spot on the โTop 100 Unpop Listโ?
- Why do the birds sound like that?
- What's the most hotly contested area of academia?
Wash your hands, stay safe, and come play some games with us ๐
