I write this vaguely delirious at a hour that is very small in the morning. I hope that you are not reading this at such a time but if you are hi, well done us for making good on our New Year's Resolution's to (finally) get a handle on our sleep schedule this year! /j
Plenty to get into with this newsletter as Term 2 is a Big Deal with events such as the mythical AGM lurking in the shadows of the not so distant future.
β Announcements β
π³ AGM Reveal + What exactly is Tabletop Presidency anyway??
I am reliably informed that AGM stands for Annual General Meeting, and it's my job to reliably inform you as to what that entails.
When asked what an AGM is, one source replied that "You can scream internally at it" and if that isn't an endorsement for an event that we really very much need as many of the membership to turn up to as possible, I don't know what is!
The AGM is a time for us to do a bunch of important admin as a society, namely:
- Elect a new exec team - Being on the exec is a great experience and we have roles to suit all interests and skills so please run if you're interested!
- Propose and debate motions - Motions are the way that you (the members!) can change things about the society! There are two species of motions: constitution-changing (lorge, spicy, potentially fundamentally changing the organisation or features of the soc) or not constitution-changing (smaller, still funky, proposing less intensive changes)
- Elect a new mascot - Strawberry Jam's reign will soon be coming to an end and that of course means a new mascot must take up this most important mantle of representing the society in an entirely non-formal, non-SU recognised way! Anything can be a mascot if it dreams big enough and stabs the competition fiercely enough so start thinking about what metaphysical concepts/memes/cute animals you may want to put forward now!
Something really important to remember is that we need quorum for all AGM votes in order for the soc to keep existing so please do get membership (as you can only stand for positions or vote if you are a member) and come along to the AGM. Also, keep an eye on the website forums and also Discord for more information because there's going to be a bunch of helpful info posted there really soon!
There'll be a few more details about the AGM speckled throughout the newsletters in the term to come so please keep checking in weekly! If you have any questions about the AGM or especially about any of the Exec roles please just get in touch with any of the existing exec and we'll be more than happy to help you out!
Fern has also created an extremely comprehensive and actually properly informative guide to the AGM in this forum thread, as well as providing a second thread for nominating yourself for exec positions or proposing motions. Please check these out as they're really helpful!

Over the next few weeks each newsletter will spotlight a different role on the Tabletop Exec so keep an eye out if you're interested in finding out what positions are on offer! First up we have Lewis explaining a little about the role of President:
Hey everyone! Lewis here, invading the newsletter once again, this time to advertise the chance to
usurpsucceed my job and become the next President of the society! As the President, you'll represent the society as an organisation, be that with the SU or other societies, meaning you need knowledge of how each faction works, as well as some level of understanding how the society runs. This does not mean you need to be an exec member already, but it would bolster an application if you at least came along to our exec meetings, to see how things run.
Other responsibilities include spotting issues, both in the membership and the exec, and working with the other exec to resolve them, helping out the other members of your exec team if they need an extra pair of hands, and generally being the final decision-maker if the team is torn on a decision. It's a lot of responsibility, and a fair amount of work, but also incredibly rewarding, and a lot of fun.
If you think you'd like to run, or want to ask any questions about the role, feel free to grab me around or DM me on Discord (
Lewis.P#7804
), and I'll be more than happy to take you through the responsibilities that the President has!
πͺ RPG room bookings
Please message RPGs rep Ben (Nasenbaer23#8574
) if you are looking for a room in which to play RPGs this term! The Society has a bunch of rooms booked on Saturdays all term but bookings can absolutely be arranged on other days, just let Ben know and they'll do their best to sort you out.
Also please note that your room booking may not have rolled over from last term because the Uni Room Booking system is... frustrating challenging interesting. Get in touch with Ben to confirm your room!
π¦ Big RPG Survey
The Big RPG is happening soon! This is your chance to play a fantastic system with a whole room of other keen RPGers in an experience quite unlike anything else that the society runs! I'm personally extremely excited and I hope to see many of you there!
If you are interested in participating in the Big RPG next term, please fill in this brief survey about your interest in and knowledge of Wanderhome, as well as your preferred play style (GM'd, semi-GM'd, GMless).
Click here to complete the survey! The survey will close at the end of Term 2 Week 3.

We have plenty of things to discuss in our first exec meeting after the Winter break but foremost among them is the AGM and the associated logistics and advertising. As ever, all are welcome to come and spectate the gentle chaos of the exec meetings (and to enjoy watching how long it takes a room full of uni students to figure out how to turn on a misbehaving projector). As Lewis mentioned it's an especially good idea to attend if you're interested in running for exec later this term!

Extra Bonus End Bit
Some magical weeds to enliven any fantasy woodland:
- Dandy-lion - blowing the tiny yellow tufts off into the air will cause the plant to emit a thunderous roar and for the following day you will be imbued with the charisma and intimidation of a rakish lion in a fancy tuxedo
- Poison IV - AKA the drip at the worst hospital in the world, found deep, deep in the reaches of the forest
- Internettle - surf the web on the tiniest green-tinged screen imaginable
- (Pokemon) Violet - sometimes you just find copies of the latest Pokemon game strewn about in the woods. Were they planted by the fae or is this just the latest hair-brained advertising strategy by Nintendo? Who's to say.
- Dais-e - A day's supply of oestrogen, a welcome bounty for the foraging transfem
- Goosegrass - this is just a flock of geese masquerading as a tussock of grass. Steer well clear lest you find yourself prey, bound up in their sticky traps.
Wash your hands, stay safe, and come play some games with us π
Lils (they/he, Communications and Operations, squinting hopefully at the future)
