Welcome back to another week of tabletop goodness! Tabletop weekend was a massive success last week, so thank you all for coming to that, and after a crazy weekend at there we're back for a more laid back week, but that doesn't mean the newsletter will be any less crazy!

🎉 New Exec!
We are very happy to announce that last week at our exec meeting, two new assistant roles were voted in. It is my pleasure to announce our new Assistant RPGs Rep Fran, and our Assistant LARP Rep Josh! They will be more than happy to help out within their factions, so don't be afraid to reach out and say hi! As always, our exec team can be found here. If your interested in a role on the exec we are still looking for a Boardgames Assistant, a Card Games Assistant, and a Wargames Assistant. Please reach out to the respective faction rep if you have any questions.
🖥️ Changes to the society Discord
It is finally time for the society's discord server to undergo a long overdue reshuffle and clean up. Find below the announcement from our Tech Officer, Izzy on a breakdown of changes:
'This announcement is warning for the restructuring of this discord server incoming on May 8, 2024.
Here is the list of major planned changes:

Cut-down of online based channels made during the pandemic due to lack of use.

Restructuring of "Society Activities" into separate faction categories.

Reordering of "Business" and "General" channels into 3 new categories.
Apologies as change can be particularly jarring, however this should help make the server simpler to navigate and more organised.
As with anything in the society, member opinions and ideas are always considered and discussed by the exec. So following this change please feel free to share how you feel and anything you might like to see done differently, if preferred my or many other execs DMs are open if you would like to share anything privately. Thank you!'

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last Week in LARP!
The party was hired by a group of Nameless experimenting with removing curses from cursed items. Naturally, the best way to do this is send a couple of people up a mountain with a heavily cursed object, which caused them a lot of fun interactions. There was a horse truther who the item forced them to agree with, and some pirates who got horrifically confused. They were sent back up the mountain two weeks later to reclaim the object, where they encountered a very powerful fragment, that seemed to be attached to it. The question remains: Was this fragment the curse, or was it just attracted by the magic from the cursed object? At least they got hazard pay.
Last Week At Tabletop Weekend!
Lots of chaotic fun was seen at tabletop weekend over the last two days. A game of Pandemic was going so well until it simply wasn't. 'Business' was achieved in a group playing Ground Floor, and V pulled out 'little baby's first Netrunner' for the newbies in the room (including me!) in which the those playing the runner decided that their win state would be to bankrupt the Corp (spoilers: it worked). We also pitted our mascot (who now has a name! See below) against Strawberry Jam in a game of Netrunner. Ignore the fact that they both have Runner decks: that's beside the point!

Last Week in Murderous Misfits!
Things got a little dicey as the group finished the process that needed to be completed in Vona in order to separate Zander from his echo (and Rose's brother) Markus, and see him given his own physical form once again. All safely out of the corruption filled nightmare that was Vona, the group rested at the school, and out of fear of what the corruption that the group gained would do, Valerius cast remove curse on Ida (formerly Kora, she found out her real name!) Instead of removing the corruption however, it removed the curse that has been wiping the memory of the group after every failure of saving the world. The group have apparently tried this thousands upon thousands of times, and this is their last chance. Being the one to learn this, of course Ida went just a little crazy.
Last Week in Nights of Payne Town! On the murder case, the group continued moving through the city to talk to the right people, and find out exactly what was happening with this case. Of course, some transport was needed around town, so of course what did Raven do? They stole Sable's car. Sable... you know, the one who is also in their party? So whilst Raven went off on their own solo mission with Sable's car, the rest of the group worked more locally until their main mode of transportation was returned. Safe to say, Sable wasn't hugely impressed...
Extra Bonus End Bit
After some close races throughout the week in the discord vote, our new Mascot finally has a name. Now of course just as the fates would rule, the vote came to a close as a draw, with 15 votes each for our two top names. But we here at tabletop love a bit of chaos, and what is more chaotic than simply combining names! So, it brings me great pleasure to officially introduce you to Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III! Thank you so much Storycrafter C on discord for the name suggestions, and to everyone who suggested a name or voted in the poll. I look forward to seeing what chaos Feldspar brings to the society in the next year to come. See to the left Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III presiding over Tabletop Weekend!
