π What happened last week? π
Last Week in LARP In an unintentionally fire-themed adventure, the party (consisting of a fire priest and a gladiator who was then possessed by a fire god) adventure into the deeps to find serial arsonist Reinbrand Cheeseman. Whilst in the deeps they run across bandits, whom they deal with via fire spells, automatons living in the deeps, and some guards looking for the people who burned some bandits to death, before they finally found and defeated Reinbrand Cheeseman and the fire spirit within him.
Last Week in RPGS Trying a slightly new layout this week as we've got lots of RPG highlights! Thanks to RPG rep Anna for collecting all of these fabulous games, and now, let me try my best to summarise:
- Muderous Misfits - The party fought a God! The players lost their collective minds at the mini of Enthena, Goddess of Chaos (see on the right), and then proceeded to slay her, with Paladin Ava doing 179 damage in a single round.
- Lumina Falls - The party played childhood games with woodland spirits to appease them and gain permission to complete a ritual to stop the shadows from entering their world. Only two more aspects to collect before they can complete this ritual!
- Nights of Payne Town - The party went to a circus! Hallie joined a polycule! The group agreed that the diner was better than the sushi place! And by the end, they had successfully apprehended another criminal!
- Tomb of Annihilation - The party ran from an invisible beholder (very bravely) and didn't pay some gargoyles who proceeded to wreak havoc in revenge. (Highlight courtesy of @forsworn_bandit)
- New Campaign - The party faced off against the Rogue's mother in a Pac-Man style demiplane. The rogue successfully takes down his own mother, meanwhile the artificer elsewhere negotiated with a necromancer to join a rebellion against the empire. (Highlight courtesy of @possumface)
- Havoc in Hastam - In early days of their quest, the group found out that they had signed up for more than they had bargained for, narrowing down their problem leading back to an ancient and potent energy which won't give up too easily. (Highlight courtesy of @themonumentstands)
- Pentagrams and Peninsulas - The party came toe to toe with a serious of mind boggling encounters, with mind flayers at the heart of the problem. Many battles were had, ending with the bard being downed. Mysterious voices planted falsehoods in her brain as she attempted to sever the connection⦠and managed to on a natural 20!!... still killing her⦠uh oh (Highlight courtesy of @gobinator_)
Thank you so so much to everyone who has submitted highlights this week. If you and your RPG game, or whatever fun TTRPG stuff you get up to, would like to be featured in the newsletter, head on over to #highlights in the society discord to submit your chaos!
Extra Bonus End Bit
Now that our fabulous mascot has a name, Feldspar is so excited to bring you 'Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III's Funky Beloved Fun (the obnoxiously named minigame)'. Yes that's the whole name, don't judge me. This week, he brings you a question in the style of Dropout's 'Um Actually'. Feldspar's taken a rule from D&D 5e, and has changed it slightly. Can you figure out what's wrong? If you can, let me know in the general channel on the society discord!
From the 5e Players Handbook: 'A fall from a great height is one of the most common hazards facing an adventurer. At the end of a fall, a creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 5 feet it fell, to a maximum of 20d6. The creature lands prone, unless it avoids taking damage from the fall'
So, can you work out what's wrong?
Hydrate, don't diedrate, have a good week, and I'll see you next time! π
