Welcome back to another newsletter. It's an exciting one this week, with lots of fun stuff to get ready for, and announce! So lets get to it.
❗ Announcements ❗
🛸 Megagame is THIS WEEK
Our annual Megagame, Watch the Skies, is fast approaching! A megagame is a huge day-long collaborative game combining all things tabletop: something between a RPG, LARP, a wargame and a boardgame. This year we will be running "Watch the Skies", a game in which the players each form part of a 4-person team controlling a nation of the world as they learn about the presence of UFOs. Except for some players, who will playing the aliens... Although we have run this game in the past, be assured that we have been hard at work cooking up a whole heap of surprises to keep you all on your toes and make this a truly unique and unforgettable experience!
Tickets cost £1 for members, and £2 for non-members, and can be purchased here
Once you have purchased a ticket, please contact one of the organisers (LARP Rep Sam, Board Games Rep V, Vice Pres James, Treasurer Hugo or President Matthew) to confirm your place and be allocated a role.
🎲 Tabletop Extravaganza!
As the year comes to an end, it is of course time for Tabletop Extravanganza! Much like our term 1 and 2 Tabletop Weekends, Extravangaza bundles all the things we love in the society into one time and one place. This is also where our final quiz of the year will be taking place, over the course of the weekend of week 9, so get excited!

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last Week in LARP!
Captain Bloodshark's treasure has been located! His Superfluousness, High Keeper of the Mysteries, Barry Fletcher (Baz for short) was hired by a pirate crew desperate for this treasure. Of course, they didn't initially hire Baz, he just crossed out the name of who they intended to hire and put his name down instead.
He ran into many a pirate during his quest on the Shining Coast, alongside a scorpion and a bridge spirit who'd gone a bit too wild at the spirit club last night.
He was accompanied by two pirates to the temple where Bloodshark's treasure was hidden away, where they promptly shot him and tried to take the treasure for themselves. However, it takes more than a few bullet wounds to stop ol' Baz, who recovered the treasure after one pirate went mysteriously missing and the other fought him.
There's no way this can have any negative consequences, Barry Fletcher is a supremely responsible man.
Last Week in RPGs!
- Lumina Falls - This week, the group reunited with Ewan, angered at his lack of communication with them, but able to find some common ground in realising that he may not fully understand all. With the rift in the leylines finally closed, the group took time to prepare for prom, and were able to enjoy the night, with Cassidy and Ashton winning Prom Queen and King. But not all could be simply enjoyed as Dr Clark showed up to truly ruin the evening, activating the chip in Ewan's neck, causing him to turn on his friends, resulting in Clarks team capturing the entire party.
- Call of Cthulhu - A group of somewhat strangers found themselves on a Mexican Island, brought here by their 'uncle' (only one person's uncle). When things started going awry on the island, these individuals found themselves banding together to work out what was going on and stop it for good. The favourite quote of the night came from the one person who actually was the niece to the uncle, saying 'I hope he saw his niece and was proud of her for chewing through a rope'. It was a weird one y'all.
Extra Bonus End Bit
As always, the answer to last week's question (What are the 4 ways you can get out of jail in Monopoly)
- 1) Throwing doubles on any of your next three turns; if you succeed in doing this you immediately move forward the number of spaces shown by your doubles throw; even though you had thrown doubles, you do not take another turn.
- 2) using the "Get Out of Jail Free" card if you have it
- 3) purchasing the "Get Out of Jail Free" card from another player and playing it
- 4) paying a fine of $50 before you roll the dice on either of your next two turns.
This week's 'Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III's Funky Beloved Fun (the obnoxiously named minigame)' comes in the form of a letter scramble. Can you name the card game?
