❗ Announcements ❗
🎲 BUY YOUR MEMBERSHIPS!
Yes yes, let's get the pleading over and done with: buy your membership please <3
Membership costs £3.50 and can be purchased from the SU website here
Although our weekly events are free to attend with or without membership (excluding draft), membership to the society provides perks such as the ability to borrow board games and RPGs, offers discounted rates to any of our one off paid events, and perhaps most importantly, allows you to vote in our exec elections later in the year. If none of that really matters to you, it's also important to note that membership numbers shows the SU that people want our society to stick around, so if that's the case for you, please buy your membership and support us!

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last Week In Intros To RPGs!
- Operation Kaon - Our ragtag team of autobots delved deep into the decepticon city of Kaon to find this whatever it is that was being held by them. The team did a lot of spying, a surprising amount of murder and, when the mythological monster broke out from the lab just outside the city where is was held and started killing everyone and eating their sparks, used the dead bodies they themselves had created (and ones that were caused in the fight, including their friend and teammate Mountain Fart) as rudimentary explosives to kill the thing. It was a hard-won fight, but it was won. Or was it? All of them agree that, as they saw the dead sparkeater being carted off for testing and experimentation, they glimpsed one of its claws twitch. - V is For Going Viral - Kitsune checked for clues in the toilet and parkored to every location, decapitating 3 people in one backflip; Post mortem racked up a 5 person ricochet headshot; Declan reality bended a wall of people to the ground; Mitosis single handedly (more accurately with 50 hands) ended a combat and scared a 2nd year student into pretending his backpack wasn’t stolen; Flicker was able freeze time allowing the crew to complete their mission; Lidia made an ultimate sacrifice to put an ended to the case and save many lives, losing her ability’s forever. - Hunt for the Thessylhydra - trog army conscription - the rise of timothy; the lost knight goes on The Bachelor; why does everyone think the old lady is the thessylhydra in disguise???; timothy the trog misses every attack until... TIMOTHY THE TROG KILLS THE THESSYLHYDRA!!! (Highlight courtesy of @ukulelevillain)
- Night Shift - A rag tag team from 'Mage Armour' came together to patrol a museum for a 'night shift'. Upon finding a bomb, instead of using it for anything remotely useful, the bard and the wizard decided to play catch with it, and by the end of the night, a critical hit doing a whopping 54 damage at level 4 helped to defeat the animatronic robots coming for the prized dinosaur egg found in the main museum exhibit. We also found Owen Wilson. (Highlight courtesy of me!)
Last Week In LARP! In Intro to LARP, our various parties were hired by the House von Blud to procure various items for the wedding of the current Archbaron and Evelyn of the Deeps.
This led our first party on a quest to the Kitaland coast on the hunt for the skin of a rainbow fish, a massive, shark-like creature whose scales shimmer beautifully under certain lighting. On their journey they met many a strange person and creature, including arguing priests, a bridge spirit, and some hunter clanspeople. In their final fight, the hunters showed up to aid them and were unfortunately killed by the monster, but the party got their fish scales.
Our second party were asked to retrieve the skull of the first Archbaron of the von Blud line from deep in the family catacombs, so they could preside over the wedding. They met many strange creatures, including members of the Houses law team, arguing necromancers, lonely ghosts and a lonely spirit (said spirit was very happy to finally have a captive audience) and a hoard of zombies they had to cleave through to get to the skull.
Our third party was hired twice. Once, to capture an emu from the shining coast for the banquet and next to procure a barrel of the finest Lupan wine. Their first quest went more or less without a hitch, as they stumbled through the desert, encountering its wild inhabitants, including a man with an inexplicable German accent who had ‘tamed’ two seagulls, named ‘Archi’ and ‘Medes’.
However, their luck turned on the second quest, where they snuck their daggers into the highly guarded city of Lupanum and murdered their most beloved wine seller. The murderer was declared an outlaw, and his accomplices allowed to fight for their freedom (and a barrel of very nice wine) in the gladiator pits. Only one party member survived.
Extra Bonus End Bit
For those of you new around here, I'd like to welcome you to my corner of nightmares chaos, also known as 'Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III's Funky Beloved Fun (the obnoxiously named minigame)', sponsored by none other than our cheeky dragon mascot himself.
Today's question is back to the quietly borrowed, "Um, Actually!" format. Look at the ruling from the 2014 D&D 5e Players Handbook, and work out what's wrong. Post your answers in the Discord!!!
'Most spells have ranges expressed in feet. Some spells can target only a creature (including you) that you touch. Other spells, such as the Shield of Faith spell, affect only you. These spells have a range of self.'
Hydrate, don't diedrate, have a good week, and I'll see you next time! 💜
