📰 Exec Roles
We have 14 exec roles that get voted on during election season here at Tabletop, and you may be one of them next! To help you all get an understanding of what roles we have on offer, our exec have written some short summaries to help you get to know what's on offer. If any of the roles interest you, please do reach out to the exec member on discord who can give you a better idea of the role in more detail, as well as answering any questions you may have. But without further ado, lets start with our President, Vice President, and Treasurer!
Matthew - President
Salutations, I am your current President Matthew and I will now attempt to explain the role of President to the best of my ability. The duties of the president can be split roughly into two halves: representing the society and assisting the other exec. Representing the society involves a certain amount of delicious SU nonsense, but also a lot more fun things like organising collabs with other societies and being as welcoming as possible at every event you go to. The second part is helping the other exec: keeping informed about how all the parts of the society are running and helping out whereever you are needed.
James - Vice President
Greetings! It's James, Vice President of the society. As VP you won't be directly tied to any one faction in particular but are responsible for the general running of the society. Your main duties as VP will be running meetings, booking rooms and ensuring all the other exec fulfilling their duties correctly. It can be a lot of work but so long as you keep on top of everything it is a rewarding experience that helps build useful organisation and time management skills. If you have any questions feel free to contact me, Drukin57 on Discord, or talk to me in person.
Hugo - Treasurer
Hi all! I am Hugo, treasurer of the society and bringer of all things chaotic, here to tell you a little about what it is I do! Being the treasurer is a great way to directly help the society, while it not getting in the way of your course studies. The main role of the Treasurer is managing the finances of the society, looking at how much money it has and is able to spend over the year, and allocating it to the different factions. There is also the odd reimbursement request and taking care of the annual merch order, which I will soon be organising! It is a position that requires you to be attentive to your fellow exec and ready to aid them in a timely manner, but it is also flexible with how you choose to carry it out. Good luck!

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last Week in LARP!!!
Our Party went on a monster hunt! They met some hunters, who were tracking a bear, and a nameless, who told them of different creatures in the countryside, as well as some cultists and guards and other folk of the woods. They made it to the village in time to hear someone proclaiming it was the end of all things, and learn some more about this monster. It's looked like a bear, a parrot, a seagull, many, many things. They left the village on their hunt and found more tracks, as well as some bridge spirits, and a messed-up terracattle, a storm boar and a firechicken. Then, they encountered the source of the terrors, a sorcerer. This sorcerer was annoyed by the existence of the village, and decided to try and create horses to wipe them out. Many experiments succeeded, but many more failed. The party slew this madman's creations, and effectively executed the sorcerer.
Last Week in RPGs!!!
Intros to RPGs was once again an amazing success, so here's just a few of it's highlights to keep you entertained.
- The House on Poplar Court - As documented by In Character Notes from Zak! - "Got scratched by a damn vampire!"; "Knocked it out, we nailed it shut in it's coffin."; "It was that or break its legs... I'm going to bed."
- The House on Poplar Court - As documented by ME! - Caleb fought the gate; The smash-glass-inator (a rock) got us into the building; Area 52 is real; Disassemble a man; Conspiracy theorist tried to control bear. Failed miserably; Abduction.
- The House on the Hill - As documented by Josh! - "I want to look for journals and stuff on the creature in the House" nat 1 "You find a conspiracy journal book including many illustrious things such as the walking rainbow pufferfish"
- Operation Warm Blood - As documented by Matthew! - The agents chosen for this mission were Archer Archie, known for his characteristic red suit, and Betrand Dossier, known for wearing six outfits concealed within each other at any one time. On arrival at Isola di Sangua, the operatives immediately introduced themselves by name to the principal suspect in the resort casino, before tailing him to a meeting in a hotel penthouse. The agents infiltrated the penthouse, obtained the information on project Prometheus, and planted a bug which they used to observe the suspect draining the blood from a French military official. Unfortunately, they were subsequently assaulted by a pair of assassins and were forced to move forwards on the infiltration of the compound. After various incidents and apparently escaping a pit of sulphuric acid, the pair managed to somehow detonate the compound and flee. Interrogation of Dr Maliss reveals that the story of Abbot being a Vampire and wrestling the pair on the casino stairs was founded - redacted for security purposes.
- The Stygian Gambit - As documented by Skye! - After meeting with a contract provider, our agents scouted The Afterlife Casino (the target of their heist and filled with bad jokes), managing to gain intel, meet with the money hungry owner Quentin Togglepocket (he sounds like heimerdinger), and win a tonne of money - gambling always pays off right? Upon the night of the heist, with one party member working at the casino, the party split into small teams: Two (Nine and Titus) headed into the circus to let animals free and attempt to cause chaos; Two (Copper and Neyra) broke into Quentin's office, uncovering some magic protecting Quentin should he come to harm; One (Waige) stood guard over the final party member (Snake Eyes), while he competed in a gambling competition, hoping to win and take home the statuette (one of the targets of the heist). Chaos broke out when baboons were set free on the casino floor, Snake Eyes reached for the statuette and triggering a paralysis trap (affecting everyone but himself) and the vault was broken into by Copper and Neyra. Chases ensued and success was achieved, taking the statuette and a hefty sum of money, with almost all of the party making it out, Titus sadly lost a heroic confrontation. At least the heist was successful!
- Hunt For the Thessylhydra - As documented by Jupiter! - If I had a nickel for every time a player bought a gun to a Thessylhydra Hunt, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice. Also, they were diegetically playing “Bardcore Thunderstruck” for the entire fight. Also they gave the Super Cool Awesome Kinda Game Breaking Thessylhydra Hunting Daggers to Steve the Troglodyte, an npc, who then proceeded to ride on the shoulders of the Druid for the rest of the game.
Extra Bonus End Bit
The LARPers were once again let loose on last week's 'Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III's Funky Beloved Fun (the obnoxiously named minigame)' with the LARP Faction Lupanum! This week, Feldspar has delved into the world of CCGs (as Holly has done the same over the last month). Here's the card text for the card 'Arcane Denial', but there's something wrong with it... can you work out what it is?
Counter target spell. Its controller may draw up to two cards at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep. You draw a card at the beginning of your next turn's upkeep.
Hydrate, don't diedrate, have a good week, and I'll see you next time! 💜
