💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last Week in LARP!!!
Two fugitives and an amnesiac lumberjack are hired by a pirate. They’re sent to track down and retrieve an artefact from a temple along the shining coast, with their first stop being the islands around Denge. They wander, finding a king (of a single rock and sometimes some sand bar in the middle of the ocean), some wannabe gladiators, and a map seller. Curiously, they do not get the map to the treasure from this seller. While at his stall, Laurence, the lumberjack, was trying to barter for a map, when someone approached the other two. They remarked that the party were a colourful bunch, and gave them a map after a quick conversation. They made their way to a rent-a-boat, owned by Captain C, and run by their crewmates Carl Tographer, Jake, and an unnamed Treasurer. They sailed the seas about 4 hours to the mainland, encountering a turning ghoul, a far off sight of a sea monster, and fighting off a boarding party.
On the mainland, they saw the person who gave them the map again, talking with someone. The five had a short conversation before the party set on their way. They encountered dead bodies, and tracked their way to the temple, just outside seeing the person that was talking to the one who gave them the map, who claimed the were a hunter. There was someone else outside the temple, begging the party to not enter, hearing whispers of death and danger, that the party also heard. But still they trekked in. Inside were countless traps, swords from the walls, floors that trapped you and drained your life. But finally. Finally, they made it into the room housing the artefact, only to find the two people they’d run into multiple times before, holding their pirate benefactor hostage. Also in the room was a death fragment that they could not kill, not without destroying the artefact it was tied to. They fought and won the day. Instead of tracking down the captain, they decided to keep the artefact, the shrine it was on, and the fragment with it.
Last Week in RPGS!!!
- Sector-C4N - The party head off into orbit at last! They enter jumpspace and start the journey to their next planet Arremata. On the way Kalina (PC) discovers the job that Johnny (PC) took on is actually an illegal smuggling mission. Johnny is reprimanded for taking this risk on them without everyone else knowing, but the party agree the safest course of action is try and stay under the radar and not get found out, and if they do, claim innocence and co-operate with authorities. The next day whilst in jumpspace they check the logs for the planet their heading to - it is a Dictatorship with extremely strict laws... What on earth was our contact thinking in trying to get us to smuggle something onto this police state? (Highlight courtesy of Hedgie in the Discord)
- House on the Hill - The party planned their next moves carefully, before sleeping in a territory belonging to a group called the 'Blades of Tosmora', who have been kind and let them stay there for the time being. Negotiations were made before the party paid a visit to the Peacemakers to find an individual named General Xander, who was their man to bring home. Turns out General Xander walked into Peacemaker territory murdered 20 people and declared himself High General. Xander discussed with the party the true threat of the Blades who supposedly have sleeper agents everywhere, and he asks the party to flush them out of their hiding space to allow them to advance to the second floor of the building without fear. Last Week in MURDER MYSTERY!!!*
20 people gathered in a small venue in Godknowswhere, TX, through violent snow and patchy signal, to enjoy a gun convention. Or confront their father. Or scam people. Or to find a serial killer. Or be as obnoxious as possible. Tragedy struck as the lights went out, and one of the organisers, Buck Eagleman (don't worry, the names get worse) was stabbed to death.
Not long after, while the Inspector Arthur Goyle and Dr Ally Orta discussed Buck's death, the emergency candle was snuffed out, and by the time another was lit, environmental activist Forrest Oake had been bludgeoned to death by a heavy object.
Soon after that, a tentative normalness was returned to, until investigative journalist Louis 'Exposé' Allard sat down, feeling unwell, then suddenly collapsed, our third murder of the day. Poison is what the doctor said.
To cap off an already terribly eventful evening, when the lights finally flickered back on, 90-year-old Rich Diggerson unfortunaately suffered a heart attack and died, leaving behind a wife, Goldie Diggerson, early 30s, and son, Andy Capitalist, mid-40s.
Eventually, police arrived, and arrested Chuck Eagleman for the killing of his brother, Gyles Trout for the murder of Forrest, Mort Cereal for the death of Louis, and Goldie for the death of her husband. Inspector Arthur Goyle got away with their crime of killing Louis Allard, who was attempting to blackmail them with evidence of previous crimes they had committed and pinned on another person. So did Cirrus Forcast, famed weather forecaster, who killed Forrest Oake over a dispute on the formers opinions on and coverage of climate change.
Rich Diggerson died of natural causes, much to the dismay of his entirely innocent wife.
Extra Bonus End Bit
We're back for another round of 'Feldspar Buttons Firebreath III's Funky Beloved Fun (the obnoxiously named minigame)'. Last week, I caught some of you out with the rules lawyering as, according to the PHB 'The space of another creature, whether hostile or not, also counts as difficult terrain.' so a big well done if you did get that right! This week, Feldspar has claimed another RPG. Can you tell me which it is?
Hydrate, don't diedrate, have a good week, and I'll see you next time! 💜
