💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last week in welcome week
- Intro to Wargames went really well, with lots of people coming to try out Warhammer 40k, Kill Team and Gaslands: Refuelled! -Sam (Wargs Rep)

- Intro to CCGs was a great success! We had a wonderful turnout and were rather busy in the best way possible. There was a great mix of new and experienced players for a variety of games. I hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and will consider coming along again (and bring friends!!)- Skye (CCGs rep)
- Intros to Draft We had historic numbers this welcome week at draft! 24 people played with 2 exec who had to opt out of it to run the 3 tables. It was the highest numbers ever, many new experienced freshers and many people who are new to draft! Thank you everyone for coming!- German (Draft rep)
- Boardgames Saw many many people and lots of games be played!! But as always it was a lot of fun!!
- Society Fair It was so nice to see so many people wanting to know more about our society! Thank you for coming over and having a chat with us and seeing our craziness!
Last week in LARP
- Intros! During our freshers week sessions, a crewless, shipless pirate captain named Captain James Shine (of the Shining Coast) hired four groups of mercenaries to act as his temporary crew to retrieve things for him. The first crew, he asked to reacquire his pistols from the Reeve's Chapter House in Shireshire, as they had been taken from him by some overzealous reeves. The party trekked their way through the Kitaland country, finding wolves, Reeves, bandits, and eventually the town of Shireshire. In the town they witnessed a market and an execution, before talking their way into the Reeves Chapter House. The party was offered half of their original pay for the one pistol, but they attempted to shoot Captain Shine after he refused to give them the full pay. The second party were sent into the deeps, to recover the Ledger of Connections from an abandoned temple of Skoi. Within the deeps, the party encountered a lot of weird things, including strange mushrooms, imps, automata both broken and functioning and a horrific monster hiding within the temple itself. After defeating it, they picked up the ledger and took it to Captain Shine. The third party were hired to steal back Captain Shine's ship, the Flying Welshman, from a Shining Coast noble, High Lord Imperious D. Lerious, who was holding it at his private docks in Mitzitare. The party navigated their way through the desert, speaking with hunters, cultists and fighting many creatures, before talking their way onto the docks and escaping in the ship. The fourth and final party were hired on for a museum heist. More specifically, to retrieve the flag of Pirate Captain One-Legged Bertha, who Captain Shine claimed was his aunt. They went through the city before reaching the museum, talking the guards into letting them take the flag to be 'verified', though the museum. The party led their guard friends to a shady alleyway, dispatching of them and taking the flag back to Captain Shine, where they were paid in full for their services. - Sam (LARP Rep)
Last week in intros to RPGs
- DND 5e: One of my players willingly choosing to become a lesser vampire as a distraction to let the rest of the party escape was not what I expected for this session. The names Jin Chitak, Forai, and Bingle will be remembered for centuries as the saviours of Helskai city. - Birdi on discord
- LANCER: Squad 52-B have been deployed on a mission to defend the endangered Giant Capybara from a power hungry prince. This has since reported in multiple outbreaks of popup viruses, one hospitalised mercenary, a rogue AI promptly 86'd, multiple car bombs, and one very heavily disciplined prince -Hugo (Boardgames rep)
- DND 5e- Containment Breach: After being summoned by a mysterious distress call to the Grand Menagerie of the Magi, P.E.S.T. travelled through a series of enclosures and containment rooms, including a terrarium with a Myconid who has since been called Jeffery and room full of mirrors with a harmless Mimic called Gary, eventually leading to a boss fight where one of the party members was corrupted and forced to fight their colleagues. After defeating them P.E.S.T. then blew up the entire complex and assembled all of the NPCs and PCs into a pirate crew (because of course!) -Alex (RPGs rep)
- The World of Pokémon: Our four budding adventurers set off from Pallet Town after receiving their very first Pokémon
and stealing from Professor Oak's snack drawer. After a stop in Viridian City, their first test as novice trainers was to brave the gauntlet of trainers in Viridian Forest. After some grueling battles and excellent teamwork (RIP Bug Catcher Rick 🙏, you won't be missed), the party made it to Pewter City in the foothills of Mt. Moon. Pooling their resources to gather supplies - as well as some info around town - gave them the edge against Brock's rock hard (🤨) team, and so it was that these four trainers, three houseplants and a turtle won their first League Badge! - Flo on discord - Transformers: Operation Sparkeater Declassified: Team Sparkeater, consisting of Autobot agents Harley, Verney and Gigabit, were sent on a retrieval-sabotage mission in the city of Altihex, known for its raw materials and deep-space research facilities. Their objectives were to discover the object found by the Decepticons in mine AX-147-B, as well as to recover agent FV418, who had been missing for several weeks. They achieved the first objective but, sadly, not the last. They were flown in and landed near the city of Altihex with the location of two points of interest, mine AX-147-B and a decepticon administration centre. They found the mine abandoned as there had been an attack 3 days ago leaving many miners dead and the rest gone. Gigabit found FV418 had been assigned to the mine as punishment for suspected association with autobots, and that they had been sent to search as meteor that had struck near the mine the week prior to the attack. The trio upon searching, found footage of the attack but were ambushed by some rogue decepticons. They fought them off, with Harley's skill as a sniper coming in particularly handy when he shot one of the enemies heads clean off with one blast. Further information they gathered at the secondary processing centre led them to what appeared to be just another simple decepticon mine, but after the party bluffed their way in, they discovered exactly what it was that the deceptcions found: A Sparkeater. After trying and failing to break it out, the team were imprisoned. This turned out probably for the best, as soon FV418 escaped, tearing apart the decepticon guards as the team hid and tried to plan. The Sparkeater found them at the energon store of the base, and the team fled, leaving a trail of the explosive fuel behind them, FV418 caught up and tore apart Verney, but not before he could consume as much energon as he could and drop the rest, while the other two fled. Gigabit turned back and shot Verney with a laser blaster, the heat from the shot blowing up Verney and blasting the sparkeater back into the mine in time for the explosions to chain back to the main energon store and bring the whole thing down on top of FV418. Harley and Gigabit received rewards for their bravery, and Verney received the Prime's Medal posthumously for his sacrifice that allowed his teammates to escape alive.- Sam (Wargs and LARP rep)
- Cirque D'Aur: Episode 1: 'Eleanor's Oliphaunt is Completely Fine'. The Golden Dragon circus found itself outside the small halfling village of Tocsan. People flocked from miles around to get a view of the action, but all went awry when the star attraction, a hulking Oliphaunt known as Crunch, was revealed to be missing! Archringmaster Carthollo Salazin VII Esquire set about seeking someone to hold responsible and was nigh on set to execute Crunch's handler Eleanor until a brave band of adventurers who'd only met earlier that day managed to gather together clues and determine what had befallen the missing megafauna! After speaking to Ahadarlae Knovagorn the Blacksmith, Balthazar the Kobald Korn seller and Wallis the knife thrower, and with some excellent intimidation from Gil the Barbarian and Cassandra the Divination Wizard, the party managed to follow a trail of drug-laced popcorn butter and residual magical energy to a caravan on the edge of the circus ground. Therein they found Wallis' missing lucky bottle, and upon lifting it soon found Crunch trapped inside! He burst out, rapidly returning to his original size, and set about a fearsome rampage. The party set about calming the beast, with Gil and fellow dwarf Baern tanking the majority of the hits, whilst Thorn did most of the damage and Hector the Druid helped guide the beast to slumber. They were beset by the conspirators who had kidnapped Crunch, namely Balthazar and Ahadarlae alongside Lotto the changeling Clown, but all were swiftly incinerated by Cassandra and Vaelith the Wild Magic Sorcerer before they could have a motive kicked out of them. All appeared to be well as Crunch was finally brought to sleep.. before almost being killed by a draconic cloaked figure who introduced himself as Hiro, and decried the circus as a threat that needed to be extinguished before vanishing. Both because of the advent of this new threat, who had almost killed his star attraction and wounded his daughter in the process. Carthollo offered the party jobs within the Circus, both to continue its life and to find this mysterious Hiro and bring him to justice... - Eurydice on discord
- Vampire the Masquerade: Dancing in the Moonlight- A group of Vampires that live and work on Warwick uni campus get called in for a job by their boss Disco Dave on a Wednesday just before Pop! There is a drug going around that is killing off their feeding supply and its the vampires job to find out what is going on. Upon some investigating and a lot of mesmerisation they find the drug dealer Elliot a ghoul who didn't last long after their master found out what they were doing. But just then a fire alarm went off in pop (a real fire) leading to mass panic, more coercion and a chase towards Westwood. The group found out the Camilla were behind all this trying to take over their territory leading to a showdown in Westwood campus finding the vampire in charge of the attack and bring them back to Disco Dave for a rock paper scissors tournament for who gets to burn the traitor in the sunlight above the SU building. - Me!
- Rex Democracy rolls out of the car after crashing into the site at 100 mph, rocks up with sunglasses and a cigarette in hand, confidently ignorant to the towering bulk mech as it slashing him with their massive battle axe. Rex, still alive with the axe in his side, grabs a live grenade and put it in his mouth, climbs up the bulk and smooches the mouthless robot in an attempt to transfer the grenade, giving periodic winks to the rest of the party. Regrettably Rex did not make it, only his sunglasses remain in the explosion, he died doing what he loved (being manly). (<@Freddies 's character)- Hana on the discord *FANF night at the museum: Quotes: "little did freddie know that the security guard was a larper"- Elliot, "bonus action i get my tentacle" "where's it coming from?" , 'I was not aware of Freddy fazbears game' - toby
