So I'm ridiculously busy for the next few days but that fortunately gives me the perfect excuse to try out my newsletter intro generating robot! I fed a Markov Chain every intro to the newsletter written by me, and the results... exist. It's called FarBinn because it's trash. Take it away, FarBinn!
I hope you with this is a great news reporting friend mentioned I'm Finnbar the new Comms Officer, and Bar! runs off your feet and Bar last week as John!
Interviewer: No time for the whirring of Many Things except this week!
CEO: It's fish bread.
News Man: Hello everyone!

Sheriff: ...d ...do you all the same time every tree is cold wind passes through the tree!

Announcements
Apocalypse (Saturday 9:30am, WT0.06 Westwood Teaching Centre)
It's time for the apocalypse! Big Warhammer, big armies, big fun. I'll admit I don't know much about this, but if you've got a large amount of Warhammer and want to play Apocalypse, have a look on the Wargames Facebook Group for this post arranging a huge, 3000 point game. Please comment there if you're interested!
Watch The Skies Megagame (TBA, after exams)
After my rousing (read: nervous) speech at the AGM where I mentioned that Callum and I wanted to run a megagame, we're actually starting to plan it! Callum has put up a very short (two multiple choice questions) survey for you to show your interest - please do it if you've not already! It can be found as a Google Form here. There's a useful video linked in the form if you're not sure what a megagame is, which I'd recommend watching if you're curious!
What's happening this week?
It's week ten, which means no LARP sadly, but everything else is still running!
- Wargames Monday 17:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
- Magic: The Gathering Draft Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
- Boardgames Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, LIB1 (Library Ground Floor)
- Casual Card Games Thursday 17:00 to 22:00, R0.12 Ramphal Building
- Live Action Roleplaying is not running this week!
As always, the Events Page is your friend when it comes to RPGs, although given that it's the end of term I expect you won't find any more one-shots there.
What happened last week?
This week wars were hammered, magic was gathered, games were boarded and roles were played, as written during the bonus round by Patrick's team in the quiz. But yeah, the quiz! The team called The Ruiners won as they managed to answer questions about round things, things that sound like things but aren't the things in the picture, IKEA tables, video game music played questionably on trombone, music videos with no sound and blatant lies. They won trophies shaped like our logo provided by The Pocket Workshop and a host of other cool prizes. Ryan (who was in The Ruiners) then managed to roll 6d8 + 12d6 + 7 in an RPG session, reaching a ridiculous total of 103 damage without spending any spell slots, which is quite mad. It was apparently his lucky weekend, huh?
He didn't manage to win the most important round though, which was of course the bonus round written by Callum and myself. All you had to do was fill in the blanks from excerpts of the newsletter. What did I say in that one week after the word "the"? Apparently nobody knows, with Patrick's team (that I can't remember the name of) reaching the dizzying heights of two points and winning on the tiebreaker round. They earned a pack of Space Top Trumps and a pack of Wine Gums, which are an excellent pair of prizes.
It was also Tabletop Weekend, featuring greats such as Dinosaur Island with the Totally Liquid expansion adding some really cool water dinosaurs. Unfortunately Nathan wasn't playing so there's not another newspaper article, but I expect that's because he's likely been banned from owning a dinosaur island after the last time. Also I got to play Armada with Jon (our new Wargames rep) for the first time and it's really cool, I'd recommend giving it a go because honestly it's kind of mad and I love it. Otherwise many other games were played including Two Rooms and a Boom at the much more reasonable hour of 11pm, ushering in a new era of games not being at stupid o'clock in the morning. Or probably not, let's be honest, the tabletop extravaganza next term will likely have many games at that kind of time. Thanks go especially to our new Boardgames Rep Josh for doing the overnight shift!
Gigante Computers in Cannon Park have started to stock Warhammer, and have everything at 10% off! They're also offering an extra 5% off with the code SHADOWSPEAR3104
until what they advertise as April 31st, so if you're wanting some Warhammer get in on that before the aforementioned fictional date. There's more details in this Facebook post. We also had an exec meeting with both the new and old exec and a lot of things were discussed, including the events of last weekend, appointing exec, and much handover stuff - the minutes can be found here!
Finally, next week's newsletter (the Easter Holidays one) will be my last at the helm! So please tune in next week for one final newsletter by me before our new Comms Officer Luke takes over!
Much love <3,

Armada, in which I regret my life decisions (the two big ships are Jon's and most of the rest are mine.)
