Hello, hello all!!!
Did everyone have a good first week back to uni? Feel free to respond in the discord general chat.
I’ve had a pretty decent week highlights: cheese and chocolate collab was fun!! More about that later on. Also went to Dice Box that was slay, if you ever get a chance to play ‘cash n’ guns’ play it. It's very silly and involves foam guns.
But as always I’ve got a lot to get into with this newsletter so lets get into it.

‼️Want to become an exec member?‼️
As we get closer to our AGM and we await a new round of exec those of you who want to become an exec member need to know how to do it!
So here is your quick guide to the process!
1. GET YOUR TABLETOP MEMBERSHIP! (absolutely crucial you need to have it two weeks before our AGM so by wednesday week 5)
2. EXPRESS INTEREST TO THE PERSON IN THE CURRENT ROLE! ( let us know of your interest, we want to help you know if this is the role for you and what you’ll need to do to get it)
3. READ THE CONSTITUTION AND HANDOVER DOCUMENT! (I’d recommend reading the section of the constitution/handover document that has your exec position on so you’ll know what you're getting yourself into!)
4. PUT TOGETHER YOUR MANIFESTO! (why do you want to be an exec, what skills do you have to be in that exec role, what will you bring to the exec role?)
5. UPLOAD MANIFESTIO TO AGM FORUM THREAD! (very crucial if you want to run that this is uploaded to the forum thread on our website)
6. ATTEND THE AGM! ( you have to show up, week 7 wednesday, so you can give your little speech to the rest of the society to tell us why we should vote for you!)
7. AT AGM CONFIRM NAME AND BRIEF BIO’S WITH TECH OFFICER! (this is so they can sort out the voting of all the candidates it only has to be a short summary of why you should be chosen!)
8. VOTE! (Join in the voting process for the next set of exec)
9. HANDOVER MEETING! (once the voting is over and you have been elected you will need to have a hand over meeting with the current exec in your role so they can handover all the information you know.)
💜Exec role round up 1💜
President
Hello! So, you're thinking about becoming President, huh? Well all I can say is DO IT! It's honestly so rewarding, and I'm very grateful I took the role. It essentially breaks down into two main parts: representing the society, and helping your fellow exec. Representing the society means a little bit of SU silliness, but for the most part it means being present at and organising events and collabs, and just generally being a warm, welcoming face. Helping the exec more means you have to keep aware of everything going on in the society, and ensure you're around to assist the exec should they need any help with anything going on. Please do reach out if you're interested and want to know anymore! - Holly
Vice-president (VP)
Greetings! It’s Anna, your VP. As VP you aren’t exactly placed in any one specific faction, but rather coordinate all of them and help the society run as a whole. Your main duties as VP will be running meetings, booking rooms and helping keep everyone on task. It can be a lot of work at times but with enough planning you’ll get everyone done easily! It’s extremely rewarding and not as scary as it sounds. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me on the website or discord as Anna_L0u (or in person!!) <3
Treasurer
As society treasurer, you will be responsible for the following: Keeping track of the society finances, writing up a society budget using the expected spending of faction representatives, approving money request forms and organising the yearly merch orders. - Maddie
Co-operations and Communication Officer
Yo, it's me, Fran! If you didn’t already know I’m the one behind writing the newsletters and making the Insta posts that go out each week plus marketing all the events that we do as a society. If you’ve ever messaged the Instagram account in the last year you’ve probs got a response from me! I’ve been behind all of Sneak’s quiz questions and letting people know what is going on, hopefully I’ve been a reliable communicator and helped you all know where to go! If you want to take on this role after me please reach out!
Tech Officer
Hi, I'm Alfie, the society's current Tech Officer. This means that I am responsible for the society's website, its Discord server, its custom Discord bot (Tablebot), and a few other things. Mostly, this means keeping the website up to date, banning spammers (as the Discord server's head moderator), fixing bugs, running the AGM vote, and, when I have the time, making new features. If you don't have any programming experience, don't worry: everything you need to know has been compiled by the 2021/2022 Tech Officer, Finnbar, into the legendary documents "How To Website Really Good" and "How To Tabletop Really Good". Please do not hesitate to message me if you have any questions!

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last week in LARP
- The Super Secret Specialised Quest To Learn Super Secret Specialised Fire Lore: Reeve Mage Bryce Pyria assembled a small team of other mercenaries to accompany him on a dangerous quest. Down into the deeps lies a Quexxlian enclave surrounded by lava and flame and... Terracattle? In this enclave are those who know flame and fire better than they know their own selves, who can teach those who prove themselves worthy their secrets. They ventured to the deeps, half fighting, half talking their way past a shield-and-spear wall of soldiers, as well as finding many arguing cultists, and getting accosted by a normal amount of imps immediately upon setting foot in the deeps. In the deeps, they trekked downwards, hoping the twisting, shifting caves would lead them to their destination. They went past statues that shot them with bolts of searing pain, Hellenites who challenged them to prove their honour in glorious battle ,and nearly got trampled by terracattle-riding Imp cavalry. Eventually, they made it to the enclave, and spoke with a priest, who invited them into the temple to begin their many trials. Walking through the trapped halls, they encountered the first trial, a puzzle, a list of many living things, and a simple question: What is missing? The answer, of course, being flame. Other trials were done, tests of knowledge, courage, iron stomachs, and faith, and Bryce, perhaps inadvertently, swore two Oaths. To free a ghost from this temple, and to take their place upon his death. The party then found a carving and a broken plinth, claiming to have held an artefact 'that lit the sacred flame and stored a wicked entity within.', which was now. not there. The party headed deeper, so close to having proven themselves, through a dangerously hot room filled with lava and mechanical terracattle, through to the last chamber. A huge, empty room, with hatred in the air, and small fragments of pure flame that rose to attack the party. It was a long, hard-won battle, as more and more of these small demons appeared, burning and hurting and causing the party to turn against each other. Eventually, through skill, stubbornness, and a bit of protective magic, they won. Bryce was taken in by the elders for his teaching, and the rest of the party were patched up buy the rest of the priests there. - After the adventure concluded, we ran some combat games, thanks to the help of Dominic and Abby, who are part of the uni of Birmingham LARPSoc and came along to the session. It was good fun, and really interesting to fight with the same weapon for more than jus ta standard encounter length, so a massive thank you to the both of them for doing that! We will definitely be running more games post-session in the future, even though the first thing I learned was that I am not as fit as I thought I was - LARP Rep Sam
