đź‘€Curio social before Intro to Netrunner đź‘€
Curio: 3-5pm this Thursday 5th Feb come join us in curio for a chill social, have a drink and a chit chat with us to get to know other members of this society! Plus it's a nice break in the day!
This will be running before we’re running a drop in, Intro to Netrunner event at CCGs !!! During our usual CCG time 5-7pm in B2.03 and 7-10 in B2.02! Remember we have decks to give so do not worry if you don’t own decks yourself! And see you there!
‼️How does voting in our AGM work?‼️
As AGM and Exection voting is drawing near you’ll probs want to know how it all works! But don’t you worry I got you!
-
Step one: Buy your membership by Wednesday the 11th Feb (date rapidly approaching)
-
Step two: Verify your membership on our tabletop website, you will need to login in first (or sign up if you don’t have a login already) and click the “verify membership” button in your profile. If you have voted before on the website you do not need to reverify yourself.
-
Step three: Attend AGM ! Be there to listen to everything (Mascot election will happen on the day cause silly goofy not constitution binding - tho we all know it hold the real power in the society/ jk)
-
Step four: Vote! The vote will open once the AGM meeting concludes, usually that night or the morning after. The vote being opened will be announced on our various platforms. Online votes are required to be open “for a period of at least 48 hours”. The length of the vote and when it is due to close can vary year-on-year and will be announced at the AGM. According to our Constitution, our Exec Election votes are counted using a Single Transferable Vote (STV) electoral system. Every candidate runs against R.O.N (Re Open Nominations) this option is there for if you do not think the person or people running are suited for the role. Because motions are a bit more simple than having a bunch of potential candidates, votes for those are a simple For/Against/Abstain First Past The Post (FPTP). The option that receives the most votes wins. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
If you are still confused by all this please have a read of the AGM FAQs forum here! which goes into a lot more depth of how this all works!
đź’śExec role round up 3đź’ś
CCGs rep
Hi there! I'm Skye and have been your CCGs rep for 25/26. My responsibilities include setting up, running, managing (i.e. organising commander pods and the like), ((welcoming new players and helping teach them at our weekly Thursday CCGs sessions (as CCGs rep you should play more than one CCG to help with this!). I also arrange other CCG events for the society (for example tournaments during CCGs) and keep the CCGs equipment box up to scratch. AND I get to make the little reminder announcements for CCGs** (often mentioning larger events) every Thursday. Any questions, queries or curiosities don't hesitate to contact me on discord at skye_reeves!!
Draft rep
I'm German, current Magic Draft Rep. My duties include running Tuesday draft, by setting up the tournament-style environment, buying sealed MTG booster boxes for each of the sessions at the lowest prices I can find to reduce the draft cost and putting out announcements about draft and votes for what set people would like to play. I am also in charge of maintaining and improving one of the society's servers dedicated to Magic: The Gathering.
LARP rep
Hiya again (again) (no I'm not secretly the entire exec what are you talking about), I’m Sam, the LARP Rep. As LARP Rep, I run our weekly LARP sessions (which you should come to), work with the quartermaster to keep all our gear clean and safe to use, organise the end of year Kenilworth Castle session (so you should come to LARP for that) and run the murder mystery (which this year is week 7 Saturday, so come along!). As well as this, advertising LARP is an important responsibility. On top of these duties, and most importantly, you’re also the society's Health and Safety Officer, meaning you fill out our risk assessments and help keep people safe.
Have I mentioned you should come to LARP?
Quartermaster
Hi, I’m Jasper, the LARP quartermaster. As the quartermaster, I’m in charge of cleaning, repairing, and maintaining the LARP kit, as well as helping the LARP rep write and run LARP events such as the weekly LARP or the yearly LARP murder mystery. As the quartermaster, you’re also responsible for the LARP budget.
Please keep reaching out to exec to let us know if you still want to put yourself down to run for any roles and would like some help to put together your nomination as there is still time.

Last week in LARP
- The Endless Forest Is a Scary, Scary Place: Maid/Mercenary/berserker Millie was tasked by her house to find a missing noble - Olivier Ramsbottom of House Victoria - who had vanished into the forest a few days prior, and was known for having a deep fascination with finding out what happened to King Gustavus II. They had set off. Alongside her travelled Dr Nightscream (pronounced nit-scree-am), intrigued as always by death, and Conroy Spiracy, Reeve and also fascinated by the whereabouts of the King. They encountered bandits, but talked their way past a fight, then wolves, who mauled a poor man. In the wood, they ran into a pair of witches, who offered to tell them the location of Olivier in exchange for the party collecting some alchemical ingredients for them, specifically a boar's molar, a deer's tusk (don't ask.), and some bat livers. They did so, venturing further into the woods, encountering more and more dangerous things. Soon, they encountered the body of a guard, wearing the colours of House Victoria, who appeared to have had the life drained from them. They handed off the tusk and molar to the witches, before heading deep into the mists for the bats livers, whereupon the found and were terrorised by The Spirit of Justice. Justice Incarnate was displeased by Conroy and Nightscream, instilling terror and placing a curse to cause Nightscream to utter only truths for a short while. After collecting the livers and nearly dying in the process, our party returned to the witches, who showed the Olivier, standing alone in the mists, writing a frantic note. They ran to the place they'd seen, past ominous whispers and angry vices, to find only the paper, with footsteps leading up to it and none leading away. Olivier tried to speak with the party, tell them what they were doing, but the Forest itself tore them away, absorbing them into it, threatening Nightscream when he dared suggest making a clone to fool Millie's employers and get them paid. -Sam
