Howdy ya’ll!
(Yes my reign of terror is almost over and I'm still exploring new ways to start the newsletter.)
Welcome to week 7. That felt strange but we’ll deal with it. Can you believe this is the week the future of tabletop changes ? (in my busiest week yet - makes me feel like sleeping the majority of the last 3 days was worth it.)
But to fully prepare let us have a look at what is to come in the next few weeks, warning this week is a busy one ya’ll.

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last week in LARP
- Matthew has session-planning withdrawal and is overcompensating: Two Nameless and a hired mercenary walk into a Lupan mining town. They talked their way into the town, Metallo Minor, though Milly had to give up her axe, and discovered more about what was going on. They heard of the mines, where the townsfolk were forced to work, and interrupted an execution for heresy. Well, they interrupted an argument over beheading vs crucifixion, and the guy was taken to be crucified. They went to the garrison, where they learned more of what was being mined - a magical ore that drove people near it mad. It had a more pronounced effect on Lupans. Hence why they had sent the majority of the town down to dig it up. The party tried and failed to convince the soldiers in the town to move the mined ore somewhere else, claiming that a theft was being planned. The garrison head was like 'yeah. and we can guard it better inside the town, where we have a load of troops, and sent the party on their way. They then went towards the mines. A Reman was arguing with one of the townsfolk over the support structures used within the mine itself, an argument going around in circles, until the party interrupted, saying they could use their skills to construct more supports. They were taken to the mines, but before they got there, then encountered a beggar, who spoke to one of the Nameless about a spirit, a powerful one, of magical secrets. They made it to the mine, and were assigned a supervisor, 'Gaius Ursus', who was a non-assimilated member of Metallo Minor, to bring them down and make sure they did what they were meant to. Within the mine, they spoke with many miners who didn't wish to be there, and eventually got rid of their supervisor as they spoke to a group of miners on break.
- Then Squirrel (as pictured)

- Once play resumed, the party made the townsfolk aware of their plan, to pull an alarm to evacuate the working townsfolk, then bring the stone above them crashing down with a magic ritual, stalling the operation ling enough for the deeps to move the ore deposit naturally. It took the wary-of-being-ratted-out party and the wary-of-being-executed-violently miners about 10-15 minutes of chat to get the point across to each other, but from then, the plan was set. The party left the mine and the town to 'gather wood' (meet the spirit they were told about and learn this ritual). The forest did not like them. They fought ghouls, trees, and guardians of the spirit. These guardians were knights that came to it foe eternal life, and sold their souls in return. The party spoke with this spirit, bargaining being made to teach magic for a motion ritual that would cause an earthquake large enough to bring down the mine, then made their way back down into the deeps. The ritual took a minute, during which they were constantly assailed by beings of pure motion, but they succeeded, just able to get to the surface before thousands of tons of rock fell on their heads. - Sam (LARP rep)

- Spheres and Scales: Season 1 - Cirque D'Aur: Episode 7: I Do Not Kickflip The Archer Ambush!! As arrows rained down onto the party, they rapidly scrambled to try and ascertain what the threat was. Goliath raiders began scaling down the mountain to attack. Thorne, having already seen the arrows raining down, immediately ran up the side of the valley and swung at one of the raiders. Talia quickly followed him up the mountainside, elegantly flipping her way up and throwing daggers as she went. Vaelith, meanwhile, went to where Gilgram and Twig and Talien were towards the middle of the caravan, casting Haste upon them Cassandra immediately took to the sky and, having learnt new lightning spells in her interaction with the Guide, immediately released a massive whacking great Lightning Bolt at two of the approaching raiders, catching Thorne in the crossfire! However, the crackling power of the energy released had an unexpected side-effect - causing the sides of the mountain to begin to shake! Clearly another avalanche was not terribly far away. That didn't stop Gilgram or Twig and Talien, however, who both swiftly scaled the mountainsides with their newfound Haste and each swiftly chopped up a raider, sending their bodies falling to collide with the caravan some 40-50 feet below. As the raiders attempted to push past Thorne he managed to deal the last amount of damage needed to kill one of them, sending him tumbling down to collide with the backmost caravan... just as a rain of fire-tipped arrows slammed into it, causing it to ignite in a furious blaze. The other was swiftly put paid to by Vaelith, who casted a chromatic orb of acid. More raiders appeared and Talia, having been given Aid by Baern and a Blessing by Vaelith, ran to quickly impale one of the newest raiders with her rapier, pulling it out just in time for Cassandra to make.. one of the most interesting moves of the session, casting Thunderwave in the middle of a snowy mountain pass. The raider in question fell to his death, but the snow that was gathered above the players came perilously close to tumbling as well. The fire began to spread from the backmost caravan, catching to Jigmy Whamchuck's personal abode which also burst into flame. Gilgram and Twig and Talien swiftly leapt down the mountain to sever the caravan, stopping the fire from spreading, with Thorne pushing the next one out of the way to create a firebreak whilst Twig and Talien rushed inside to rescue the Jigmy. The avalanche began. Suddenly, the aim of the game became moving very quickly. Gilgram, despite not being significantly bigger than Baern, hoisted him up and ran with him, using his Haste to follow the others to the front-half of the caravan, just in time for an avalanche to crush the tail-half. Talia, still up along the side of the mountain, needed to find a way down, and faced with snow and rock rushing past her was running out of options, until she spied an already-dead goliath archer tumbling towards her. With an excellent flip she managed to leap onto the body's back, Cassandra watching on as she surfed the falling snow down to join the rest of the party. At the front of the caravan, Loretta and Wallis were busy holding off the raiders whilst Carthollo busied himself preventing a rockfall from crushing his circus, but hope seemed to be largely lost. However, in a moment of revelation, Twig and Talien admitted that they knew a way out, guiding the party to a cave passage that would take them out of the assault. Baern did his best to snap Carthollo out of his attempts to save the lost cause of the circus, and he teleported away with Loretta, Thorne following soon after. The others gathered by the entrance in time for Gilgram, having scooped up Wallis, to barrel them all through into the passage beyond. As soon as their eyes grew accustomed to the dark, the Circus Monkeys realised that ahead of them in the passage were 7 archers, bows taut, waiting to ambush them. Not in any mood to let that stop them, Twig and Talien immediately threw Baern like a bowling ball, swiftly followed up with Vaelith Fireballing the ever-living stuffing out of them. None of the archers survived. As the snow pushed in behind them, there was no way to go except deeper into the passage and out of the mountain. As Baern began healing the others, Twig and Talien walked towards the light in something of a daze. When questioned, they turned to face the rest of the group - they knew where they were going. Talien, for the first time since he'd met any of the rest of the party, uttered three single words: "We're going home." - Highlight thanks to Eurydice on the discord.
