A hunt in the mountains
A nameless, Aerys and Reverend Doctor Nightscreem set out into the voidscraper mountains in search of the mage River Fellow who specialised in combining motion magic and firearms so that they could retrieve the materials to construct such a weapon.
After convincing some bandits to betray one of their own they began to climb the mountains. They convinced a spirit to allow them to pass over a ravine by each telling a story before encountering a friendly neighbourhood drug dealer with a couple bodyguards. Later they found the corpse of a bounty hunter who had been searching for River. On his corpse they found a wanted poster from Ostport promising a large reward to anyone who could bring him back alive.
Continuing on they encountered a group of imps who had discovered the idea of a bayonet which they attempted to sell to the party. Fortunately, they swiftly fell to infighting over a neat ring allowing the party to proceed. Eventually, the party came across a group of mercenaries being paid to bring the body parts of powerful mages. Noticing that 2/3 of the party were attuned with magic they attacked. When it became obvious the party were going to lose they agreed to pay 1 TR to the mercenaries as well as leading them to River Fellow so they could claim the bounty.
As they continued to travel up the voidscrapers the party encountered a pair of imps whom had lost their connection to the deeps due to being so close to the void and become depressed. Later they found a pair of voidic priests convinced that with they could dodge a bullet. They could not. The party began to notice increasing signs of destruction characteristic of a powerful motion mage making it clear they were getting near to River Fellow. Eventually they came upon a wooden fort where they convinced River to let them in so they could discuss motion magic. River agreed to provide the resources in exchange for help with killing the mercenaries hunting River. Deciding they had better odds ganging up on a wizard in his house they quickly subdued him before taking what supplies they needed and leaving the fort. After handing him over to the mercenaries in a tense exchange the party managed to prevent a fight breaking out finishing their quest.
We then proceeded to play a bunch of fun combat games 😊.
My personal favourite quote from LARP highlight:

Last time on Of Spheres and Scales: Season 1 - Cirque D'Aur:
Episode 11: Fire in the Garden
The party, for the first time since joining the circus, awoke peacefully and steadily, largely in comfortable beds. The soft sun was starting to stream through the windows of their little goblin huts, and the roaring pink flame of last night’s fire had dulled to a gentle, soothing orange glow. As the Circus Monkeys roused themselves from their beds, however, they found that the commotion of activity had already begun. Outside, every goblin of fighting age (about 10 all in all) were eagerly gathered around the fire, arming themselves with shillelaghs and preparing for combat.
Inquiring as to their intentions, Twig found Lilliana who reminded him of last night’s promise to bring the fight to the Karen-Tun. As the others joined them in the centre of the village, they set about constructing a plan. Lilliana hoped that Twig, Talien and Gilgram would stay with her at the village, for defence and safe-keeping respectively, and Loretta asked that Baern stay close by for a special project. The others, however, were content to lead the frontal assault on the Barbarian camp. After spending a decent time granting each-other all the boons and buffs they could manage, they set about their respective tasks. Twig, Talien and Gilgram patrolled the Goblin camp, protecting it from harm and awaiting a potential incursion by the Karen-Tun.
Several hours later, the forward party finally reached the camp – finding rather than a ragtag bundle of tents a substantial castle. After a great deal of deliberation a plan was conceived for Cassandra to use the Shatter spell to burst through the castle wall – but as she cast it, it instead fizzled out 15ft from the stone, neutralised by a powerful Antimagic Field. The door sprung open, and Barbarians emerged to defend their fort.
Meanwhile, back at the camp, the blood still pounding in Gilgram’s head was joined by a second beat – real war drums. A horde of Karen-Tun, led by Kazan the Percussionist, were marching on them. Gilgram immediately rang the alarm, but chose not to engage the attackers head on. Instead, he waited as Twig and Talien took the lead instead, watching the fear in the Barbarians’ eyes as they saw the faces of their bogeymen once again.
Talia, part of the Forward party, rushed in to attack the Barbarians streaming from their fort – hiding against the wall and repeatedly stabbing at one of them, managing to kill him before he’d even realised what was going on. Far more observant, however, was a much larger Barbarian standing on top of the castle walls - Alieth. Back and forth he strode, carrying a great-axe the size of a person, spinning it languidly and kicking sparks from the stone.
Thorne moved to attack him, throwing two daggers both of which found their marks. Alieth threw them back, and when Thorne managed to return one of them the Barbarian crushed it in his grip. The party watched as he grew to 16 feet of height, thorns beginning to encase his body as he leapt from the battlements, landing with a thunderous wave of energy that forced Thorne back.
Kazan, meanwhile, was also providing assistance to the Barbarians attacking the goblin camp – though Twig and Talien easily cut through several of their number their fear was abated by the rhythmic, hypnotic beating of his immense war-drum as he slammed against it with his bearded axe. The power of the beat was so strong it even began to reinvoke a deep-seated memory within Gilgram. The trauma of his time as a member of the Karen-Tun returned to him, and his mind responded in the only way it knew how – it caved in. He strode swiftly over to one of the goblins he had sworn to protect and with a single blow killed him, sending him flying into the side of a hut, before grievously wounding another. Twig and Talien watched on in abject horror, before turning their fury fully on those they deemed responsible. Vaelith and Cassandra, not wanting to tempt the Antimagic Field that seemed to coat the fortress, had stayed a decent way from the gates, and instead prepared to hurl magic at the oncoming Barbarians once they left their fort’s defences. With a lightning-bolt from Cassandra and a chromatic orb from Vaelith they managed to obliterate several of the charging Barbarians, but this only seemed to peak Alieth’s interest. As he approached, Vaelith cast two fireballs swiftly after each-other, detonating them directly over Alieth’s head. He willingly let the flame wash over him, and when the light settled his face was one of eager determination. He pulled a chain from his belt and expertly whipped it to wrap around Vaelith’s waist, damaging his spine as he pulled the sorcerer into one hand’s crushing grip.
Whilst Twig and Talien attempted to break Kazan and the other Barbarians, using the Javelin of Lightning Baern had given him to skewer the others and pin Kazan to the floor, Baern focussed on getting Gilgram under control. He managed to cast Hold Person on him, stopping him from harming anyone else. Lilliana, casting a lightning-bolt of her own to further damage the other Karen-Tun, went to Gilgram and attempted to see into his mind… but the all-consuming rage she found within corrupted even her, and she began to mindlessly stab at him with a dagger.
Talia and Thorne turned to protecting the goblins from harm, pulling one of them who had gotten particularly eager away from a Goliath he was busy crawling over, whilst Alieth attempted to cast an Antimagic Field to catch and neutralise both Cassandra and Vaelith. The weakened sorcerer managed to counterspell it, but this only angered Alieth more. Instead, he simply threw Vaelith as hard as he could against the closed stone door of the castle. He hit the door with his back, and the chains were forced against his weakened spine enough to shatter it, losing him any feeling or control in his legs, and leaving him stranded within the Antimagic Field that cloaked the fort.
He turned to Cassandra now, who was flying in the air above and preparing to attack, and made a simple offer. If she surrendered herself, and went willingly, none of the others would die. Cassandra could tell he was telling the truth – he would not attack her if she went with him. And if she did not… every goblin present, alongside Talia and Thorne, would be killed. She had no choice.
As she dropped to the ground and he took her by the arm, a great horn sounded from within the castle, and the Barbarians at the goblin village turned to flee. As another Barbarian picked up Gilgram’s still immobilized body, Kazan turned to give one last look to Twig and Talien, recognition finally dawning on his face… accompanied not by the customary terror, but by a self-certain sneer.
With that, Twig, Talien and Baern were left alone in the Yggdrasi village, and Thorne and Talia were left outside of the Karen-Tun fort. Thorne looked into the hills and saw a figure wearing familiar robes – those of his old order. He started to walk towards him, leaving Talia alone just long enough for another, equally familiar figure to appear behind her. With his torn school uniform and elegant fencing mask, Talia recognised him in an instant. “Hi Talia, it’s been a minute,” the Bladesinger spoke with the same cocky tone she remembered, and before she could react he’d rested a hand on her shoulder, and the two had vanished.
