[ ] Cries.
Now on with the news!
THERE'S AN EGM, ITS HAPPENING, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Just a compulsory reminder that there will be an emergency/extraordinary/egg general meeting on the 19th of June, 18:00-20:00, in B2.02. Details of the event can be found on the Facebook Event Page. Please note that by Wednesday 5th June, 6pm, you must be a standard member to be able to run for Draft Rep and vote on the motions being proposed at the EGM. We require a quorum of 30 people to actually run the meeting so please come along. There! Now you're all definitely aware this is happening, the SU overlords will be most pleased.
EVENTS - SO MANY EVENTS LIKE WHAAAAAAAAA?!
Yeah there is SO MUCH coming up in the next few weeks for you to get involved with in the society, some of which you will now be fully aware of, some you would've heard brief mentions of and some will be totally new news to you all. Most (if not all) of these events now have a Facebook event page with all the details which can be accessed via the links below. Please respond with going if you are coming along to any of these as it helps us plan, thanks.
Boardgaymes and Equali-tea Fundraiser - June 12th - As part of our society pride celebrations, our Wednesday boardgames has been transformed into boardgaymes, featuring a cake-and-tea "Equali-tea" fundraiser for the LGBT+ charity Stonewall.
Compsoc vs. Tabletop Laserquest - June 18th - For the fourth year, Tabletop games faces Compsoc in a LASER BATTLE TO THE DEATH. With Compsoc winning the first round, and Tabletop winning both the second and third round, tabletop are in the lead. Can Compsoc make a comeback or will they be defeated yet again?
EGM - June 19th - As has been mentioned in a few newsletters now, we're running an Extraordinary/Emergency/Egg General Meeting because we have some changes to make to the Constitution (as discussed at the previous AGM) and we need a new Draft Rep! Please respond with going if you are coming along.
Term 3 Quiz - June 20th - We're back for our termly tabletop quiz, complete with 6 rounds and a mystery bonus round for your brain powered pleasure.
Watch the Skies Megagame - June 21st (Day) - Prepare yourselves for a full 8hr kinda turn-based, kinda RTS, RPG of global defence or domination! Wage wars or form mighty alliances, steal alien tech or trade with our extraterrestrial... visitors... and attempt to emerge victorious over the other great nations at the end of the day. There is still a space for this, please contact Callum or Finnbar about this. Please remeber this is a ticketed event so don't just turn up on the day and hope to get in if you don't have a ticket.
Pride Talks - June 21st (Evening) - For our society pride week celebrations we have 2 members of the society who are happy to share their knowledge and experiences being part of the LGBTUA+ community.
Tabletop Extravaganza - June 22nd-24th - Whether you merely want to stop by for a few hours of board games, CCGs, draft, RPGs and wargaming, or challenge yourself to stay for 3 days straight (although please wash, that room may get hot and... yeah...) feel free to join us for what should be the perfect celebration to the end of the exam season, the term and the year!
Last weeks minutes can be found here. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, week 7, 1-2pm. Please let a member of the exec know if you wish to come along.
What's happening this week?
Nothing changing from last week's schedule:
- Wargames - Monday 5-10pm, R0.03/4
- Magic: The Gathering Draft - Tuesday 6-10pm, B2.02 - This week's draft is Dominaria which sign-ups are now full for.
- Board Games - Wednesday 2-10pm, B2.01
- Casual Card Games - Thursday 5-10pm, B2.02
- LARP - Sunday 12-5pm, B2.02
RPGs are, as usual, being run at the discretion of the DMs and more info can be found on them on the events page.
All drafts for the rest of the term are now sign-up only, this can be done on the events page.
What happened last week?
Last week a group of intrepid adventurers set out to the UK Games Expo at the NEC. Although they finished their quest with approximately 10 copper pieces between them, the general consensus is that is was "Huge". Several games were bought and by the sounds of it may make an appearance at this week's boardgames on Wednesday. Pictures of the adventurers can be seen in the gallery.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing you at the multitude of events in the coming weeks. Best of luck in any remaining exams!
