After leaving the chamber, by simply pushing down the cardboard facades surrounding you, you head back down the path towards the great medieval city of Warwick that is your home. Your quest for domination and victory across all factions now begins, and will surely be far easier with the knowledge bestowed unto you by the 'Sage of Dice'. However, even the mightiest journeys start from humble beginnings and those seeking glory across all the factions must train hard and prepare for the vast amount of tests and trials before you. You begin your journey, like many before you, at the weekly board games event at the local tavern.
Pushing the door open you step in and are greeted by a young man who introduces himself as 'Josh', owner of the tavern. He takes you in and guides you to a long table at the back of the tavern, sagging slightly under the weight of 100s of games upon it. Being a newcomer, Josh offers you a few options for your first trial: Spyfall, Codenames, Exploding Kittens and Love Letter. Knowing that you have proficiency in deception and insight checks, you opt for Spyfall and join a table of 5 other adventurers to play.
After a few rounds of Spyfall you realise you've not done the tutorial worksheet for the following morning and make ready to leave. Before you leave the tavern you thank Josh. He explains how although you're always welcome free of charge, to help out his small tavern and the other factions, a small fee of 3gp and 5sp is greatly appreciated. You accept and hand over the coin, in return you receive a small die, embedded with the insignia of the society, recognising you as a true member of the faction!

Society Membership! (Featuring the impeccable Photoshop skills of Callum in the gallery)
So sadly, all the equipment and games owned by the society isn't free. Although you and your friends are always welcome at our events, if you wish to support the society and help grow our collection of games you can by buying society membership for a small fee of £3.50 for the year from our page on the SU website here. Buying membership gets you cheaper access to special events throughout the year as well as a nifty little D6 with the society logo for you to keep (while stocks last)! It really does help us out so please consider joining today!
We're Moving from the SU Email System... AT LAST!
Although not particularly difficult, using the SU messaging system is honestly the worst, Finnbar will agree with me on that and I'm sure whoever follows me at the next communications officer will agree too. That's why, to save the next poor soul from such a fate, we're saying goodbye to the SU messaging system within the next few weeks. This means you will no longer receive newsletters via email and will now have to come to the society's Facebook page or, even better for the proper viewing pleasure I intend for you, on our website. You can click here to quickly subscribe to the website version. We hope this encourages people to use the website more for their society news as there are only a small few of you that look at the emails for newsletters anyway. Hopefully you agree this is a change for the better.

What happened last week?
Obviously last week was fresher's week, meaning lots of introductory sessions and tasters were running. We had a stall at socs fair (see photo below) and it was good to see so many new faces, hopefully we'll see you throughout the term!
If you're still unsure of what certain parts of the society are about, lots of information can be found in last week's newsletter on what each event is. Please also feel free to contact me, or any of the other exec, either on the society's discord or via email, information for which can be found below. That's it for this week, I hope you all have a successful start to your studies this term!
Much Love,
