How is it Week 5 already? The passing of time sure is weird!

Tabletop Radio Meeting
If you don't know what Tabletop Radio is, check out last week's newsletter!
We're having our first "exec" meeting solely about Tabletop Radio this week, on Wednesday 20th from 2-3pm (though realistically it will probably run until 4)! As with our regular exec meetings, you are very welcome to listen in - we'll be holding it over in the Tabletop Discord, in the #exec
voice channel. If you're not an exec or Tabletop Radio organiser, you won't be permitted to speak in the voice channel, but you are very welcome to put comments in the #exec
text channel which we'll be reading.
This is a prime opportunity to learn what we'll be doing for Tabletop Radio: we'll be discussing the segments and schedule, donation incentives, streaming set ups and more! We're also still looking for any members who wish to volunteer to help out with organisation - contact Ares (@dovahbutt#7544
on Discord) for more info.
Ikoria Prerelease Event
As some of you Magic players may be aware, the newest set, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, is now finally available to purchase as a physical product, and this includes prerelease kits! If you are interested in participating in an informal prerelease event with the society, please check out this Facebook post/poll to learn more.
What's happening this week?
- Monday 5-10pm: Isolation Tabletop (Wargames and Board Games)
- Tuesday 6-10pm: Isolation Draft - CHAOS - free, with a promo prize to the winner - you must sign up here so we know whether we we have enough players to run. This will be an especially chaotic chaos draft, as we'll have access to all draft sets throughout Magic's entire history!
- Thursday 5-10pm: Isolation CCGs
What happened last week?
Some of us got together on Saturday night to watch BBC One's "Eurovision" replacement program. Keeping with tradition, we each created a Eurovision bingo sheet (shown in the above image, from left to right: Jakub's, Finnbar's, Callum's, Ryan's - and you might wanna right click -> view image to read these).
We were a bit miffed when it turned out they were only playing 30 second clips of all of the songs (shakes fist), but we still had fun, and Jakub won the bingo game (getting 2 entire bingos by the end). After following up the program by watching a few of the songs in full on YouTube, Finnbar made a definitive, 100% accurate ranking which I've attached an image for.
Baking with Ares 2: vegan carrot cake with not-so-vegan cream cheese frosting
Carrot cake is one of my favourites, and this vegan recipe I found that includes orange and walnuts makes an amazing sponge (I know it says "cupcakes", but you can just divide the mix between 2 tins and it works perfectly). But my personal preference is for a cream cheese frosting, so I subbed out the vegan frosting offered with the vegan recipe for this. In order to make a lil' baby cake, I halved both recipes, and used some teeny tiny tins.
As with all Baking with Ares recipes, if you try this, let me know how it went in our #highlights
channel in Discord! I'm also always down to see any baking or homemade meals you've created in lockdown, so please, send your photos and recipes my way.
And that's all from me this week folks!
Wash your hands, stay inside, and come play some games with us <3
