Events are ramping up again, so prepare your calendars for the coming storm.
Announcements
Save the Date - Tabletop Weekend is Week 9!
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December, midday to midnight both days, via Discord, Tabletop Simulator, and various other platforms
Three weeks to go until our end-of-term Tabletop Weekend - keep your calendars clear on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December if you wish to join us in some Tabletop goodness.
We encourage you to organise any big games, tournaments, and/or RPG one-shots you want to host or play in advance (like Twilight Imperium, which happened during Week 3's Board Game Weekend) - please create an event on our website's Events page and post about it in the relevant Discord channel and/or the relevant Facebook group! You can also drop me a line and I'll be happy to advertise it on your behalf in a future newsletter and/or our Discord #announcements
channel.
November's X-Wing Tournament
Saturday 21st November, 10am-4pm, via Discord and Tabletop Simulator
Our latest X-Wing tournament now has a date and sign ups available - please head on over to the event page for more details. You must sign up by midday on the 19th November to take part!
Closure of the Board Games Lending System (RIP)
Due to lockdown being reinstated, our Board Game Loan Service is now suspended until further notice. If you still want to play board games, you can online on Wednesday from 5-10 pm as per usual.
Hopefully when lockdown ends we will be able to resume loaning games, so sit tight, and we'll keep you updated.
What's happening this week?
- Monday 5-10pm: Online Wargames
- Tuesday 6-10pm: Online Draft - MB1 - free! (as it's online) - you must sign up here to take part
- Wednesday 5-10pm: Online Board Games
- Thursday 5-10pm: Online CCGs
- Saturday 1-4pm: Sealed Mystery Booster - sign ups are closed (but anyone is welcome to spectate). Please remember to turn up on time, and don't open your packs beforehand!
Remember, you can always find an up-to-date timetable of what's going on on our website's Schedule page, and you can see special events (including RPGs) and sign up to them via our Events page.
What happened last week?
Yesterday (or the day before yesterday, as you'll be reading this on Monday morning) we had our second Magic sealed event, this time a flashback to Battle for Zendikar. There were Eldrazi, there was Gideon, and there were no expeditions opened (cry). Congratulations to Alisdair on taking top spot with his black-white aggro deck, and congrats to Henry on opening the Gideon.
Saturday night also saw some impromptu Jackbox, and this time somebody found the "create your own" button and everything became Tabletop-themed (screenshots provided for your amusement).
Now that we're all online, impromptu games are popping up all over the place - remember to keep an eye on our #looking-for-games
Discord channel to catch the action. We also have a bunch of tailored roles (for example, but not limited to, commander
for Magic: the Gathering Commander games, netrunner
for Running Nets, and jackbox
for Jackbox Party Fun) that you can subscribe to in order to catch any @role
notifications that might come through when people are looking to play specific things (or for you to @ if you're looking for a game!).
That is all the news from me this week - that being said, the new Monster Prom game is currently being played over Discord, and while this newsletter doesn't feature any stories as they are currently being created, you might get some Monster Prom next newsletter (if you're into that).
Wash your hands, stay inside, and come play some games with us (online) <3
