TERM 1 WEEK 16 NEWSLETTER

Hello,
I’m back, after last weeks blast from the past with a special newsletter from our old friend Roff you can all rest easy knowing that I’m back at the helm. So, without further ado here’s what’s coming up over the next week.

TPP BOARDGAMES EVENT WITH FREE PIZZA
Wednesday 17:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
From 5 onwards on at Wednesday’s boardgames event we will be joined by our sponsors TPP again for another fantastic networking opportunity. For those interested this will give you a chance to socialise with a potential future employer, but don’t worry if you’re just there for the boardgames as it will be the same great event we have every week but with bonus free pizza.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
Week 8
The AGM may seem a long way off but it’s never too early to draw attention to something this important. Of note should be the SU policy of everyone who wishes to vote or run for a role must have been a member for 2 weeks prior to the event. So with the AGM taking place in week 8 this give you a deadline of February the 14th for buying membership.

WARGAMING
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
Still overwhelmed by Star Wars mania? Then head on down to wargames, as the X-wing miniatures game is our speciality. We have multiple core sets and plenty of experienced players ready to teach you it’s incredibly simple yet tactically deep rules. And if you have become sick of Star Wars then why not cleanse your pallet with some games of 40k, Warmahordes, or Dropzone.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
After the whacky nonsense of Friday’s Unstable draft its back to normal again as we return to the deadly serious format of Ixalan. So keep in mind that you can no longer combine your creature no matter how hilarious or effective the result might be. As always 19:00 start with an £8 entry fee that can be reduced by £2 per booster you supply yourself.

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
It’s seems that boardgames withdrawal over the holidays has driven people to do strange things such as playing Codenames with Netrunner and Rhino Hero cards. I’m sure this madness will wear off by Wednesday, however, don’t be surprised if more unusual boardgames combinations occurs as people readjust.

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, B2.04/5 Science Concourse
Whether you want to test your next competitive brew or just combine all the creatures in uncommander then Thursdays is the day for you. It’s also a great place to play the new Magic boardgame, card game, thing(?) Explorers of Ixalan which may be able to bridge the Casual Card games – Boardgames feud once and for all.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
Hopefully you are hungry for more RPGs after the success of the one shots this weekend. Those of you who are continuing a campaign will know the score and should keep in contact with their DM regarding rooms and times. If you don’t yet have a campaign lined up and are interested in playing then make sure and check out the events page of our website as new campaigns will be posted regularly, our RPG rep Callum still has some spaces left in his Star Wars one. http://www.warwicktabletop.co.uk/events/

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING
Sunday 12:00 to 18:00, OC0.05 Oculus
This weeks LARP adventure saw our party go after some bandits, and along the way find time to return a lost camel, get spaced out on some magic cactus juice, and find a strange totem that caused the holder to disappear. With that much craziness taking place week 1 it’s hard to imagine what is planned for the coming term and there is only one way to find out, no equipment or experience is required so you really have no excuse.

WEEKLY NEWS
Saturday saw another one-shot session, with adventures taking on a more Sci-Fi theme from Dark Heresy to Starfinder with some friendly supervillains in between. It was so popular that we ran out of DMs, but luckily we have a copy of fiasco which saved the day.
In other news if you were part of the Wargames Warmachine order then you should contact me about receiving your sweet miniatures.
