TERM 2 WEEK 20 NEWSLETTER

Hello,
After an action packed tabletop weekend we head into week 20 without losing any momentum with two more events for you (here’s hoping you like star wars). Want to know more, well that’s.. why I’m here.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)
Week 8, February 28th 17:00 to 19:00, OC0.04 Oculus Building
https://www.facebook.com/events/154511065251793/ https://www.warwicktabletop.co.uk/forum/thread/115/
17:00 on Wednesday the 14th (this Wednesday) is your last chance to become a member of the society if you are looking to run or vote at the AGM, this really is your final warning so make sure you “do it!”. For anyone who plans on running for a role don’t hesitate to contact the current exec who will be able to provide lots of helpful advice.

X-WING MINIATURES TOURNAMENT
Thursday 15th 11:00 to 14:00, WA1.15 Avon Building (Westwood Campus)
On Thursday we find out once and for all how is our most skilled pilot (and by skilled I mean who can cheese the most evade dice) as we have our first X-Wing tournament. We will be on a tight schedule make sure and turn up promptly at 11am as that’s when the fun begins.

STAR WARS SOCIETY COLLABORATION
Friday 16th 17:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
https://www.facebook.com/events/334702817014447/
We have a special event this Friday as we are teaming up with the Star Wars society (twice the pride, double the fun) for an evening of Star Wars themed games. This will include society favourites such as X-Wing as well as some boardgames with a Star Wars twist.

WARGAMING
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
With the X-Wing tournament on Thursday then wargames may be your last chance to get in those practice games while scouting out the enemy, after all a lot of meticulous planning is required to have an “Ah, victory” moment. Or you could always expand your strategic prowess with a game of 40k, Warmahordes, or Dropzone.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
We are a few weeks in to Rivals of Ixalan now and I’m sure everyone is up to scratch on the possible architypes and have established their own pick orders. But don’t let this familiarity make you complacent as there is still plenty of room for innovation and drafting something a bit more whacky. As always 19:00 start with an £8 buy in reduced by £2 per pack supplied.

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
If 44 hours of boardgames wasn’t enough for you last week then fear not as Wednesday boardgames will be there to satisfy those cravings as always. In other boardgames news our boardgames rep Josh was finally beaten at articulate, all it took was an excellent opposing team and for him to have me as a teammate (although I’m sure that last point is unrelated).

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, B2.04/5 Science Concourse
After then Netrunner draft on Saturday I’m sure you are up for even more of this great game, and if you just happened to observe it and want to find out more, Thursdays is the best place to learn. We also have multiple games of commander so make sure to bring your deck or even borrow one as there are always plenty spare.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
With the game of Everyone is John that happened over the weekend, hopefully we have attracted even more interest for rpgs (even if it was with the weirdest system imaginable). So if you enjoyed this then make sure to check out our website events page for up and coming campaigns and one shots.

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING
Sunday 12:00 to 18:00, OC1.01 Oculus Building
I don’t know how they managed it but our dedicated LARPers continued their weekly adventuring despite little to no sleep as well as multiple hail storms. Not only that but they even headed straight back to boardgames afterwards, so make sure and come along Sunday to where you can join this hardy lot on their next adventure. And remember no experience or kit is needed to get involved.

WEEKLY NEWS
Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of exhausted men, it is the ramblings of the people who can finally sleep again. Tabletop weekend is over and what a weekend it was, from devious deals in Cosmic Encounter to skilful bartering in Sheriff of Nottingham. Over the weekend we managed to cover pretty much everything the society offers with card games, wargames, and even our Sunday LARP.
