My goodness, it’s time for my second newsletter! It should probably have a snappy title like “NEWSLETTER 2: The Sequel: From the Makers of Newsletter 1: Electric Boogaloo (This Time It’s Personal: The Reckoning), also playable on 2DS, featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series and Knuckles”, but alas, the title can only be 64 characters maximum on the website. Now, let’s start off with the second most important event this year:

Wednesday 9th May, 18:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
I’m sure you remember the AGM last term and all the excitement that came with it (electing exec and most importantly our mascot RON), so we thought we’d do another one! Well, kind of. This is an Emergency General Meeting to approve the new society constitution, which we need to get to the SU by week 8. Please turn up if you can, there’ll still be the regular board games event, just with a pause in the middle to discuss and vote in the constitution. For more details, have a look at the Facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/362395817613187/) and the forum post (https://www.warwicktabletop.co.uk/forum/thread/171/).

Monday 17:00 to 22:00, OC1.04 Oculus Building
Come on down to OC1.04 on Monday for games about wars in the stars, wars in the hammers and wars in the mahordes! I’m sensing a theme here…
As per usual, check the Wargames Facebook group to see what people are bringing and organise games, although there are enough society armies that you can likely turn up and get a game anyway.

Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, B2.01 Science Concourse
There is actually a draft happening this week, so get your mana curve sorted and your colours picked! Will you go blue-green with lifelink or take a chance with red and deathtouch? (am I doing this right I know nothing about Magic)
Anyway, we’ll be drafting Dominaria, at the usual cost of £8 (reduced by £2 for each pack you supply yourself) with final registration by 18:30.

Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
You might think that after a day of boardgaming at the weekend people might want a rest from boardgaming for a bit. Nahhhhhh. Come on down to B2.02 on Wednesday for your usual share of boardgaming!

Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, B2.02 Science Concourse
Whether you’re a filthy casual like me or the national champion of Netrunner (and anyone in between), CCGs is open to any card games! This is the best place to get some sweet games of Netrunner, Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic in between revision or scheduled panic.

Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
In Callum’s one-shot spectacular corner, this weekend he is running an Alien: Desolation game which at the time of writing has one space open - sign up on the website if you’re interested! Otherwise week 4’s one-shot has been announced - it’s Paranoia, a dystopian sci-fi but also slapstick comedy RPG. Definitely doesn’t sound like one to be missed! General details for Callum’s one-shots can be found on the website (https://www.warwicktabletop.co.uk/forum/thread/134/#response-179), so definitely go there if you’re interested in signing up for any of them, and keep an eye on the Facebook group for notifications when the next signups go up. In general, if you’re looking for an RPG, whether it be a campaign or one-shot, or even want to run one, your best bet is to go to the Events page of the website and sign up there! If you just turn up to the café at midday we can’t promise you a game.

This is a bonus bit of the newsletter where I will gush for a few seconds about how great the website is, because thanks to our Web Admin Ash’s continuous hard work we have a great resource for organising stuff within the society! It’s super easy to use, just sign up and you can join events, post in the forum, the world is your oyster (if your oyster here happens to be a website for hosting and joining events at your favourite tabletop society). So go on there and sign up for a cool one-shot! (The link is at the bottom of the newsletter as always)

Sunday 12:00 to 18:00, OC0.01 Oculus Building
Last time it was Jakub's first outing as official LARP rep, and despite a smaller turnout than usual due to exams, it was really good! There was a cool prison break as our heroes did a cool crime to get one of their acquaintances out and met a spooky projection asking them to meet him at a mountain. After some foreshadowing, the heroes decided that they should try to find the Mind totem, which brings us to this week’s adventure. Will they get the Mind totem? Will the world be enslaved by shadows? Will there be bandits? Find out on Sunday!

It was International Tabletop Day last Saturday! There were wargames, board games and card games (including a Magic draft) and huge pizzas nobody could finish. Many exciting things happened in many games, including a train “accident”, the arrest of many criminals (but the lack of arrest of the balloon accident murderer) and the creation of Jakub’s patented “Poles’ Potion for Instant Pole Growth” that grew any kind of pole you wished for. I hope everyone who dropped in (or even stayed the whole time) enjoyed it, I know I did!
