Hello,
Well the first tabletop weekend is over and we hope everyone who attended had a great time whether they stayed for the full 36 hours or just pop in for a few games either day. Now we have to endure the long wait until week 9 when we can do it all over again. But don’t despair as we will have all of our weekly events to tide you over until then.

DISCORD SERVER ANNOUNCEMENT
That’s right, we have a discord server! If you are already familiar with discord then you will have been eagerly awaiting this announcement and have no doubt already joined up and entered this great online social space. But for those who are unfamiliar, discord is a voice and text chat application that offers a great platform for us to provide an online community keeping our members connected when they aren’t attending events. This could be arranging boardgames, wargames, RPGs, or even just chatting with your society friends. So, what are you waiting for get the app from the following link and join our server at https://discordapp.com/invite/xdDZnYQ.

WARGAMING
Monday 17:00 to 22:00, OC1.04 Oculus
Our wargames regulars will probably have noticed by now that Martin is apparently fated to have to face Roboute Guilliman every week. So if you haven’t been to wargames yet and have him in your collection why not come along and challenge him to a game, although don’t worry if you don’t as there are plenty of other opponents to play against. There will also be games of Warmahoardes and the ever popular X-wing with society armies provided for each.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING
Tuesday 18:00 to 22:00, R0.14 Ramphal Building
Everyone should have a good idea of what they are meant to be doing in Ixalan draft by now, so if you are planning on claiming those prize pack you will have to step up your game by drafting the spiciest deck possible before eliminating the completion one by one. As always the draft will start at 19:00 with an £8 buy in per player.

BOARDGAMES
Wednesday 14:00 to 22:00, H1.48 Humanities Building
Wednesday saw what we hope to be the first in a weekly rhino hero championship. Our skilled competitors not only had to complete against each other but also a brutal chess clock and the always pesky gravity. But eventually one hero climbed higher than the rest and was awarded the title of Rhino Hero World Champion, James Ellis our LARP rep. But don’t worry if your nerves can’t handle all that excitement as we will have our extensive collection of more relaxing boardgames that you keep coming back for.

CASUAL CARD GAMES
Thursday 16:00 to 22:00, WA0.15 Avon Building Westwood
Sorry about the start time confusion last week, but rest assured we will be back to our normal start time of 16:00 this week. It may not have the best card game (Rhino Hero) but I’m sure multiple games of Commander, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Android Netrunner will be enough to compensate. But don’t feel like you are limited to these as this is the perfect place to introduce a new card game, such as the excellent Legend of the Five Rings which has already attracted some attention.

TABLETOP ROLEPLAYING GAMES
Saturday 12:00 to 22:00, Meeting in the Social Sciences Café
Hopefully everyone involved in a campaign managed to find time for it on Saturday, but then again if you couldn’t it was probably because you were too busy playing all the boardgames at our tabletop weekend so no big loss. As always make sure to check the events page of our website for any newly added campaigns and one shots.
We are also taking part in RAW radios Quests and Requests hosted by Peter Morris with three of our members taking part in a comedy adventure each week.

LIVE ACTION ROLEPLAYING
Sunday 12:00 to 18:00, OC0.01 Oculus
It takes a brave person to paly boardgames all night and then LARP the next day. It’s just a shame that no one seemed up to that challenge (although that is probably for the best, as I’m sure our LARP rep would rather not have to herd incredibly sleep deprived people through the woods). If you have recently joined us and are interested in coming along then don’t hesitate as we have all the equipment and experience necessary to get you started on your first adventure.

WEEKLY NEWS
What else could we possibly focus on this week than the amazing tabletop weekend. This had an excellent turnout bringing in a lot of new faces that we look forward to seeing at our other events over the coming weeks, and to those brave souls that stayed all night to endure Relic and the entire Important Videos YouTube playlist I salute you. Saturday night also saw the stakes raised in Bullet Rhino Hero (It’s been less than a week and is rapidly becoming the best thing we do!) as we advanced from the world to the inner solar system championship. This tense tournament saw new comer Patrick Kiernan take the grand prize of his own bar of chocolate that he so kindly donated.
