It's been feeling like it's getting closer to spring and I'm so godsdamned excited about it. Out with SAD and in with flowers, gay shirts, and sunlight hours that last more than 15minutes of the day! I hope all of you have things on the horizon to look forward to!

๐ณ Verify your membership before the AGM
- ๐ Friday 24th February
- ๐ 7-10pm
- ๐บ B2.02
As you should all hopefully know, the deadline to acquire membership before the AGM was on Saturday so if you got membership and haven't voted in an AGM before then your next step is to verify your membership by following these steps:
- Login to your account on our website
- Go to your profile
- Click "Verify Membership" and follow the steps there
If you've already voted on the website before, there's no need to do it again, but anyone who wants to vote for the first time, it's really important that you do this.
Please make sure you verify your membership and turn up to stand/vote at the AGM, it's really important that we have as many people as possible, so the next exec can continue making the society a great place for everyone!
โผ๏ธ Spotlight on...
EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSIVITY OFFICER (ED&I)
Here we go again, it's Ben part 2, coming at you live to talk about Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Officer-ing.
One of the core values of Tabletop Society is the idea that Tabletop is a space for everyone, no matter what. The ED&I Officer is the person on the exec who takes the lead on making that value a reality. This can be whatever you make of it, and a lot of the job does rely on you taking initiative as well as working to resolve any issues that come up in the day-to-day running of the Soc. I suggest making friends with your friendly neighbourhood Welfare Officer and President and getting to know the Moderation Team over on our discord as well, as they will be the people you work with in the event that stuff does come up.
Other than responding to any issues in the infrequent event they do come up, you should be actively looking for opportunities to drive for positive social change within the society. You might wish to compile a report on demographics of the society membership, devise schemes to make events more accessible or work with some of the other cool societies that work to make Warwick the best place it can be.
Finally, the part of the job that has taken up the most time for me, engaging with the Students' Union and University (apparently I'm one of the current VP for Societies' "favourite people" because I always bring her "interesting questions" which I'm taking as a compliment).
This can be in the form of participating in as much ED&I related training as you can, working with the uni and SU to develop the next rounds of training or whatever else you want. 7 times out of 10, this requires you emailing/talking to the SU to check you're not breaching some SU by-law.
Basically, the world is your oyster, and you can do whatever it is you want to make sure it's a more inclusive and welcoming one!
WELFARE OFFICER
Heya! It's me Scarlett, back again. This time, Iโm here to discuss the welfare officer role! Essentially, this role means that youโre the one people can point to in the event that there are welfare related issues in the society. This doesnโt mean youโre individually responsible for everyoneโs wellbeing, it just means that youโll be taught the tools necessary to ensure people get access to the help they need, whatever form that may take.
Youโre encouraged to signpost, delegate, and generally spread the pressure out as much as possible so itโs not a massive burden on you.
Youโll also be working with the ED&I officer to help ensure that all our physical spaces are inclusive and comfortable and the Tech Officer to ensure our discord is moderated in a way that keeps it healthy.
If you have any questions about the role, feel free to message me on discord

๐ญ What happened last week? ๐ญ
Last week in LARP:
On the hunt for a terrifying beast, the party made the first incursion any party has made this year into the Deeps, a twisting underground realm where the geometry is almost as out of touch with reality as the inhabitants. Along the way they encountered some cultists for a new god, duplicating frogs (to be fair, they had put them there), and got embroiled in the incredibly asinine, absurd, and annoying world of imp politics. After one of the players somehow became Imp-erator, they finally came face-to-face with the part-man, part-imp, part-shark, part-frog abomination, finally giving Grat the chance to kill a big monster.
Extra Bonus End Bit
More flavourful festivals to flesh out your worlds!
- Waterfell - held at the base of a cliff that was once a towering waterfall but that has since become nought but a wall of bird's nests and vines due to diversion of the water away from its path, this festival takes place at the height of the summer heat and serves to remind all participants of the latent magic of things that once were. Water is carried from far and wide to fill the lake-bed and as night nears the festival-goers bathe and reminisce about what could have been and what could still be and typically they are blessed by a brief shower of rain to raucous applause (the sound of which could easily be mistaken for a waterfall thundering again).
- Feast of the cosmic honours - this is the celebration to commend the cosmic horrors who really stood out as the best of the best over the past year. As with all high-profile awards ceremonies it is fuelled by a healthy dose of nepotism, bribery, and corruption of the mind and soul!
- Dusk of the eleventh star - it was bedtime and Bleak was trying to count again. "six, seven, eight? t-, ni-ne, ten..." once again they trailed off, struggling to recall what came next, glaring at the frosty beam of the moon through their window. They fell asleep frustrated, only to dream of stars twisting into blurs of numbers they couldn't quite recognise and shapes they would not recall in the morning. This stretched on until the eleventh night, where they found themselves shouting numbers into the dusk, only to hear the following number whispered back. Every time you look to the stars for aid you celebrate this small festival.
- Valentine's Fray - a large ball composed exclusively of people who would consider each other nemeses having passionate and very intense duels
and then making out after.
Wash your hands, stay safe, and come play some games with us ๐
