Version 0.1

This thread serves as an up-to-date guide to the rules for Deep Space Nine. Please do not reply to this thread.

Version 0.1 is largely a re-theming of Battlestar Galactica incorporating the Battlestar Aphelion rules, except as noted below. Right now, the main goal of testing DS9 with this ruleset is to see what works and fits with DS9, and what feels out of place - future versions of DS9 will differ more significantly.

Overview

The Deep Space Nine board game is set during the height of the Dominion War.

The crew of the space station Deep Space Nine are at the front lines of the Dominion War - the Federation facing against the forces of the Dominion: the shapeshifting Founders, sycophantic Vorta, brutal Jem'Hadar, and their Cardassian allies. The crew of DS9 must ally with other factions - such as Klingons, Romulans, or the Breen - to stop the Dominion's conquest.

In Deep Space Nine, the majority of players will be loyal Federation (and Bajoran/civilian) crew of DS9. Otherwise may begin play as undercover Founders, or find their old-self captured by the Dominion and replaced by a Founder part-way through. In most respects, this is same as the Human/Cylon dynamic from BSG.

The Federation players win by gaining 12 Fleet Strength - representing the combined forces of the Federation fleet, and any other fleets you have persuaded to join your cause - and launching the final attack on Cardassia that will decide the fate of the Alpha Quadrant.

The Dominion players win if, at the end of any player's turn:
• 6 locations on Deep Space Nine are destroyed - critical damage to DS9's sub-structure causes the station to fall apart, leaving the Bajoran wormhole undefended
• Support is at 0 - any previously-neutral factions see the futility of fighting the Dominion, and join the Wining Team
• Resources are at 0 - DS9 cannot survive, and is forced to surrender
• Morale is at 0 - the Federation surrenders to the Dominion
• Civilians are at 0 - heavy civilian casualties cause the Federation populace to demand peace with the Dominion
• A player is required to pick a new character, and none remain - there is no-one left to lead the fight

DS9 uses the same skill card types as BSG (Politics, Leadership, Tactics, Piloting, Engineering, and Treachery)

Furthermore, I consider that Carthage must be destroyed.
