Thinking of joining the exec?
In week 7 we're gonna be hosting our AGM!
For any newbies who haven't experienced this delightful event it's our annual meeting to vote in new exec for the next year! Sorry to say some of us graduate this year (big sad) so to let everyone know what exec roles you can run for every week they'll be some descriptions of exec roles!
Anyone who's got a membership to the society can run in the AGM!
This week introducing.....
President: currently Ben!
Hi! Ben here- and it's time to talk about a job I've loved for the last year,- the Presidency of Tabletop! As President, you're generally responsible for coordinating the activities of the society, sorting collabs out and doing everyone's favourite thing, talking to the SU (I actually enjoy it to be honest). Being Pres is a fair bit of work, and you may not always feel the most tied into all the factions since you don't really have one specific thing that links you to one or the other. That doesn't mean it's unfun, and you'll learn a lot about what goes on in the society as a whole- as well as meeting so many awesome people! Being President has been the highlight of my time with the Society, and I can't wait to see what my successor does next- feel free to DM me (@nasenbaer23 on Discord) if you have any questions!
Treasurer: currently Alonso!
Hello! I am Alonso, treasurer of the soiety and hopefully it is my replacement reading this! The position of treasurer is fantastic if you are looking for a way to help the society in a direct fashion that does not directly conflict with any of you studies. The position mostly consists of handling reimbursement requests and taking care of the merch order. It is a position that requires you to be very attentive to fellow exec members and ready to aid anyone as soon as possible, but is not typically extremely demanding in any one period of time. I have found it to be very rewarding and hopefully, so will you!
🎨 Good at painting minis?
Quartermaster James is running a painting competition!
In this competition the theme is "Criminal".Themes are completely optional and no preference will be given either way in the judging.
In the run up to the Competition you can paint whatever model you like, be it Wargs, Borgs, RPGs or even CCGs and Larp if you can. All you need is a currently unpainted (or only primed) model and the will to paint!
What are the core rules of the competition?
- You must paint an unpainted model. If the model is primed (even with a zenithal or coloured primer) that is okay. In the case of prepainted models (such as X-Wing or Armada) that's okay, however please paint a significant portion of the model.
- The model must be fully painted by the day of the competition. None of the bare plastic can be showing, if it has a base that is not transparent it must be painted. (If the base is prepainted the model can be submitted but the base will be ignored)
- The model must have at least three separate colours. All models must have a minimum of three colours on them (this includes the base).
- The model must be a single "unit". You're more than welcome to paint a model of any size or shape or a group of such, but the submission must be a cohesive set.
- The model cannot be terrain. This is to make the job of judging the models easier as terrain often requires slightly different skills and techniques.
There are two tiers to enter into, Novice and Intermediate. These will have separate winners to make sure that nobody is intimidated from trying out.
Novice Tier - For people with little to no experience painting models whatsoever, if you're wanting to give painting a try or get around to painting that army you've had for aeons you're welcome to here. (If you have extensive experience doing physical painting, please sign up for Intermediate)
Intermediate Tier - For those who do have experience with painting or even do it professionally, you can put your all (or as much as you're comfortable) into a passion project.
There will be a separate Discord server for logging your entries, but it will also include places for asking for advice and giving updates if you'd like to.
Officially, the Competition will start on 20/01/24and end on 11/03/24, which is the final week of wargames (Monday Week 10). However you're free to start whenever you want, don't feel like you're obligated to start straight away!
To make an entry: - Sign up to the event! Click here to join it! - Take a picture of your unpainted model with a piece of paper with your Discord Username and the current date - Upload it to the aforementioned server or DM me (drukin57) with the name of the model and what tier you'd like to enter into
The winner will receive a special place in the Newsletter and much praise from their peers.

💭 What happened last week? 💭
Last week in Wargs:
Bit of a chaotic wargs this week! Big thanks to Izzy for capturing this masterpiece!
A 66 dice pool roll!
A big old pile of nids!
Last week in Lumina Falls:
The gang of youths experience Friday for the seconf time? Weird that's not quite how time works hopefully it's got nothing to do with the green energy Rick touched under the waterfall....
In other news! The group gained powers, theres nothing more terrifying than a nosy tween with invisibility! This scary skill helped the Taylors find their dad who might have abandoned them 5 years ago.... Good news though Mr.Taylor & Mr.Sinclaire lead the teens right to the weird waterfall letting them meet a very sweet gal who's employers might be able to help them get to the bottom of whats really going on in this town.
Last week in Murderous Misfits:
Murderous Misfits cannot be summarised this week, because if anyone who played in that game came up with a summary, they would be forced to relive the emotional whiplash that was going from 3 characters almost dying, to fantasy Legoland, really serious chats on the road involving people storming off to ride a motorbike and chatting on the roof of a carriage, to a murder mystery at the house of a crime novelist. I wish I was joking!
Moving on from that mess heres the random bit that made RPG rep Ethan giggle for half an hour after he didn't even say the joke out loud!
Last week in LARP:
Due to the backstage scheming of the Nameless, a copy of the map to the lost treasure of Captain Bloodshark surfaced. Of course, the party were sent to track it down. Along the way they witnessed hermit gentrification and the wonders of the pirate firing range before meeting up with a crew of pirates to steal the map. They then betrayed said crew, an action that can in no way have negative consequences.
Extra Bonus End Bit
Adventures of Strawberry Jam!
EVERYONE WORSHIP HOLLY FOR THIS MASTERPIECE!!!!
For dice crimes jam dice is now in dice prison!
Have a fab week!
