So thanks to a big derailed cargo train, I can't get back in time to get this newsletter out for Monday morning... unless I type it upon my phone. So here goes...

AGM2020 - RPGs and LARP Reps
Continuing with the introduction of roles for the upcoming AGM (don’t forget it, Wednesday 26th, 6-8pm), this week we have short descriptions about the CCGs and Draft rep positions:
CCGs Rep - The role of CCGs rep is to run our weekly Casual Card Games session on Thursday evenings. You'll set up the room and help people find play groups, and teach any new players who wander in to learn some card games! You're also responsible for helping maintain communities of players other than those who just play Magic: the Gathering; while we have a thriving commander scene, we also have a strong community of Netrunner players, and would like to see a greater diversity of card games introduced to sessions! If you want to know more about this role, please contact Ellie Kidd (@Aliconvoy#1491 on discord).
Draft Rep - As Draft Rep, you're responsible for organising and running our weekly Magic: the Gathering Draft on Tuesday evenings. The organisation side involves planning out a term's drafts in advance (including interesting additions to the schedule, such as cubes and flashbacks); sourcing and buying product (booster boxes and packs) at a good price; and maintaining our good relationship with the Games Den, getting prize promos for each term. When running the event, you're the TO! You need to sort out buy-ins, pods, pairings, and timers, and then submit the results to the Games Den to put on the WER. If you want to learn more about this role, please contact Ares Osborn (@dovahbutt#7544) on discord).
D&D Epic - Stardock Under Siege
Tickets are now available for the D&D Epic on Sunday 9th of February (12-7pm), in LIB 1+2. This large-scale D&D adventure titled "Stardock Under Siege" will be a chance to get involved with a society 'first' and play for the day alongside many other adventurers. To get yourself a ticket, head to the SU event page, where you can also find further details of the event.
Murder Mystery Night!
Another reminder for the murder mystery night on the Wednesday 19th February (B2.04 from 6-9pm), a good chance to get involved with this sort of thing if you never have before. You can now access the Facebook event page here, use this to find all the extra event description and details that are too bloated to be in the newsletter.
X-Wing Tournament
We’re running an X-Wing tournament on Saturday February 8th (Week 5). The tournament will commence at 10am in B2.02 If you’re interested, get in touch with Jon (Wargames) or sign yourself up on the google spreadsheet here. Keep an eye out for an announcement regarding logistics of the tournament soon from Jon.
Highlights Channel
A reminder about the existence of the #highlights channel on the society discord. Please use this to let me know of anything interesting that you've been up to so I don't have to write about myself each week.

What Happened Last Week?
Last week, we attempted to break the economy of Sheriff of Nottingham, but offering up actual coins to persuade players to check bags. One particular example of this was myself, offering up 41p for a player to open all 5 bags, regardless of what was said. This involved a bidding war, where eventually a whole £1 was up for grabs for the opening of bags! Crazy what Brexit day did to the value of the pound...
That's it for this week, until next time!
